Had local ups store package and ship an item. I bought insurance.
Item arrived damaged.
Ups denied claim. Been given the run around for weeks.
I'M DONE WITH UPS
Review #547645 is a subjective opinion of
If you had them pack the item to UPS specifications, then UPS should have automatically paid the claim up to the declared value amount, if you had proof of value. If you do decide to use a UPS store in the future, just ask for a copy of the shipping receipt before it ships out; if it is store-packing, below the weight and dimensions will be a line that says "Pack and Ship Guarantee." If it's not there, ask the store why not, and what needs to be done to put it there.
In this case, I don't know what happened, so I can't say for sure that you or the store or wrong here.
It sounds like store is, but if you opted for less expensive but improper packaging, then that might be why the claim was denied, despite the fact that the store physically packed it.
If you did pay the store to pack it to regulation though, you should still have the packaging receipt as proof that the store packed it so UPS can honor the claim. If they packaged it improperly AND neglected to put "center-packed," then this loss for you is on them, not UPS.
