Ordered $123.00 of hobby supplies from the US. The sender charged me $40 to ship (that was UPS charge for pickup from sender).
When the parcel arrived in Canada the import duty was approx. $9.00 - UPS charged another $38.00 for shipping. Total cost to ship was $78.00 on an order of $123.00 that weighed 5 pounds.
I have NEVER seen a greedy shipping company like UPS. They deliver in the US for pennies but are real thieves in Canada.
Before the package was delivered I inquired about the cost and was told it was unknown because it was an international shipment (yeah right - it was less distance to my house than it is to Florida from the supplier).
They USE the term international to be VERY GREEDY.
I think that UPS (in US) and UPS Canada BOTH make profit on anything shipped into Canada from the US. It looks like you are actually paying two fifferent companies when you ship internationally thru UPS from USA to Canada.
Monetary Loss: $38.
