UPS - "insufficient packaging" AGAIN
Update on claims refund: The first check was returned to them because they got my address wrong (even though itโs on every piece of claims paperwork), then they reissued it on June 8 and I still havenโt it received it as of July 20!! The guy from corporate thatโs been assisting me in this matter, is no longer in contact with me, and refuses to answer my emails and phone calls.
Seriously, horrible company!! At this point, I donโt believe there is a refund check coming at all.
First off, my item in question was an extremely expensive industrial machine, that is now completely totaled, and unsellable. Every single surface was damaged beyond compare, and the machine itself it warped, as if it were dropped numerous times. They not only denied to pay the insured amount, but I am also out of the money it cost to ship it in the first place. As a company who uses UPS frequently for sending products, I am appalled by the lack of responsibility in this matter, as this is not the first time corporate has denied a claim for this same reason with other shippers.
They also carry their own insurance, therefore they should be treated as any other insurance company would be under these conditions. I will be writing to the Insurance Commission and the Attorney General in Florida, where the package was sent from and returned. I will also note that on both deliveries, the item was delivered by only one handler. The weight of this package required delivery by two people at least, and wasnโt, which is probably why the package was damaged in the first place. As a large, widely used shipping company, they not only treat their delivery drivers unfairly in this regard, but they obviously do not care about their customers and the items they ship.
After this entire fiasco, they said that the item had โinsufficient packagingโ, which is their way of giving you the run around and not wanting to pay. It was actually packaged per their requirements, and was accepted upon drop off at the UPS freight location in Brooksville, FL. The item was double boxed, had packaging in between each box, bubble wrapped, and tied down. In no way was the packaging insufficient in this instance. Upon delivery to the purchaser, the majority of the shipping materials were already missing. And then upon return to myself, it was mostly non existent, to where I couldnโt even produce enough packaging material to produce โafter photosโ, only damage pictures of the product itself.
.....still battling this. Steer away from UPS at all costs, they don't care about their customers, delivery drivers, or the packages themselves.

That is clearly insufficient packaging, you should contact your shipper. They are at fault, not the carrier.
Thanks Jessica. Unfortunately that was what was left of the internal layered packaging, (who knows where the beautiful box it was originally in went, pictured right) after it was returned to me as the shipper.
When I dropped it off at the UPS for shipment, it was accepted because the packaging was satisfactory.
However, between there and the buyerโs address, it lost the entire outer layers of packing, including numerous amounts of bubble wrap that was in between the layers. The buyer wouldnโt even accept it because it was so bad by the time it got to him :(
