We were waiting for a check from the bank. They notified us they had shipped it overnight via UPS, signature required. My husband was monitoring the delivery from his workplace and was rather appalled when it said that the envelope was received and signed by him who happened to be 12 miles away at the time.
I was home with my daughter, neither of us heard any doorbell or knock. My husband tried contacting me but my phone was in another room charging and I didn't hear it. Very alarmed at this point, he urgently came home to find the driver had just dropped the envelope on our doorstep and left.
My husband tried complaining about this was first told the driver obtained the required signature and he was like, why would I lie? Asked for a copy of the signature and the driver had written "Y O U". Forgery is illegal. The person my husband complained to said drivers belong to a union and there was nothing anyone could do about it.
The reason for the concern? It was a check for $250,000.
