I sent a package (a ring) from the US to Europe. The overall cost was a bit over 100 $.
A few weeks after receiving the package in Europe I receive a 530$ bill regarding customs costs (which were never mentioned initially, I would NOT have sent the ring with UPS if I had known). I then send an e-mail asking an explanation. They told me they were working on my case. A few weeks later I received no news so I sent another e-mail to ask what was going on.
I never got any answer back and the next thing I know I receive a letter asking me to pay 645 Euros or they would be allowed to send their lawyers. This is unbelievable for such a big company. I paid the money to avoid long pursuits and a trial but I will never work with UPS again and I will spread the word not to do so. This is just an organized rip off.
I also got the last mail in a different language that I am actually speaking and I never communicated in that language with them WTF. Travelling pigeons are more reliable than those guys.
