Took a day off work to get package because it had to be signed for. called at 9am to make sure package was coming. They said it's on it's way. Stayed home all day waiting for the delivery. I called at 5pm said what's going on, I could of been at work. They...

@buzzrocgirl - 4-7 business days after the company you made your purchase from actually sends it into the UPS system.

@PJackson - so they reimbursed you for your package. Not really sure if its a complaint or not, stuff gets stolen all the time.

@AlyKat - the only packages I've ever seen show a time of delivery are express packages and those times are 8am 10am and 1030am. Ground packages / non express packages are between 8am and 7pm.

For the OP why not use UPS my choice, leave a note asking to be delivered to your neighbor, or have just had it shipped to your work in the first place. I've shipped things to my work just because my normal delivery to my home address is around 3 or 4 pm and my work is by 1pm I just go down the block and pick it up.

Do not ship via UPS and do not order from any company that uses UPS as its only shipper. Here is my story. 08/19/09 - I ordered merchandise on-line from a Georgia company. A real "air-head" took the order and after 3 attempts she FINALLY repeated the correct address...

Back 20 years ago ups was good , dependable, but now days not so much. Delivery drivers leave packages just anywhere , they don't care if it's the right address or not, i know this for a fact.

One reason its gotten so bad is there is no accountability from the main office.

Delivery drivers can do pretty much whatever they want and get by with it, how do i know this? easy i have a friend that works for ups.

$32 for UPS phone call

I had some material shipped to my business-UPS. The afternoon before the delivery, I received a phone call advising me that the delivery would take place between 9 - 12 the next day. The shipment arrived - as promised. Several days later I received a freight bill, which I promptly paid. About a month later I received a past due shipping invoice. I knew I had paid it previously, and I figured the payment had gotten to them after their monthly billing cycle, so I ignored it. The next month I received another past due notice, so I called their office and told them I had already paid the shipping for this item. The lady I spoke to said that she would correct the invoice. The next month I received another past due invoice, so I called up again. This time I was informed that the $32.00 fee was for "notification". I still didn't get it, so the lady patiently explained to me, that when they call you the day before to 'notify' you that the delivery will be coming between 9:00 and 12:00, there is a $32.00 charge for that. Needless to say I was very annoyed, and will now be using the US Post Office or Fedex. In addition I will be telling all of my customers and vendors about this underhanded trick to squeeze a few more dollars out of their customers.

UPS terrible careless delivery service South San Jose Ca.

UPS service delivery has terrible service in South San Jose Ca. Drivers toss packages towards porch area usually from 10 -12 feet away damaging items then rapidly leave in their trucks speeding on residential streets. It seems as if they're racing against the clock to make a delivery. Just has been more noticeable during the last two months (July -Aug 2009) Complaining seems to fall on deaf ears and most likely angers the driver resulting in more delivery problems and damaged or missing packages. Hopeful a supervisor for the San Jose area will get the word out to their people and place packages on the porch. Any suggestion will be appreciated

UPS is dishonest and liers...

Well after reading complaints about UPS and the damage they cause and not honor insurance claims i finally see where the consumer has had enough..First of all i am a Powerseller on Ebay and sell and ship about 75 to 85 Items a week,I used to use UPS until they destroyed a $2000.00 dollar Helmet and refused to honor the insurance Claim..Well i did the usual complaining and letter sending to everybody and their Mothers but what i forgot about was posting the complaint on Ebay itself just to see who else is having problems with UPS and OMG there are thousands out there so what i did was tell people about the Service i received from FEDEX and how awsome they are and their pricing is about 20% cheaper then UPS and to date already i have accomplished taking 7 Powersellers away from UPS and they now ship thru FEDEX so the way i look at it is if UPS doesn't want to pay the insurance claim on my Helmet of $2000.00 dollars thats fine because i have taken away better then $3000.00 dollars a week in shipping from them and now FEDEX gets it and i will keep going till UPS feels it and changes Business practice..It looks like another big business thats going to go down the tubes and the dishonest people that work for UPS are going to be in the unimployment lines...THANK GOD..

You may get your wish. UPS has been on a financial death spiral for some time.

Should not be to long.

They have already began the layoff, and downsizing process. They have not been able to compete with Fed Ex superior performance and better rates for a long time.

UPS has no customer service

NEVER use UPS. They made an attempt to deliver my new phone. My old one broke and I rather need my new one. So I called the insurance co and even after confirming my address, they still put it in wrong. So I notice on the tracking page, it says "A CORRECT STREET NUMBER IS NEEDED FOR DELIVERY. UPS IS ATTEMPTING TO OBTAIN THIS INFORMATION / A POSTCARD HAS BEEN SENT TO THE RECIPIENT REQUESTING THAT THEY CONTACT UPS." If they have the incorrect address, how do they plan to send me a postcard? So I call UPS and the guy says for security purposes, he can't change the address, only Assurant (ins co) can. After I got put on hold off and on for ten minutes, she confirmed the wrong address and put me on hold again to FINALLY get it right. Now the UPS guy had told me if I got the address corrected, they would send it back out. So I got it corrected and called UPS back. Now I am being told that it is company policy that they only try once. So Assurant had to redeliver it. It was only 9 a.m. by the way. So it was not towards the end of the day or anything. So I am waiting for my phone to be redelivered today. Yesterday, I was going to be home all day. Today, I've got things to do. I called UPS to see if there was anyway to know about when to expect the package. They just said before 7p.m. So I find out it's not even on the truck yet. I ask if they can just keep it at the station and I will pick it up while I am in town. Nope. That's against policy, too. They have to make at least 1 attempt to deliver it. But only 1 attempt. I feel like they are so caught up in their policies to make their jobs easier, they don't give a care about customer service. Lesson learned: always ask if I have another shipping option.

UPS kills the sick and elderly!!!

UPS kills the sick and elderly by leaving refrigerated medicines such as Insulin on doorsteps in 95 degree weather without knowing when the person will be home to receive the shipment. Either I have to sign for the medicine which means losing a day or two from work (they will not give specific days and/or times for delivery) and I work in another state at several different locations depending on the day; or, I can sign a release holding UPS harmless so that they can redeliver. Unfortunately, they will not say how long it has been since the ice that the shipment was packed in melted away or if they refrigerated as required when holding the package to reship another day. They blame the drug Company. Yet, they accept such shipments and collect money for handling them without regard to the fact that people die without appropriate (not degraded from sun and heat) medication.

I would rather have my medication sitting in 95 degrees, ready when I get home rather than a 120 degree truck for an extra day!

Newsflash: UPS drivers don't know what's inside each package they deliver, and whether or not the package is temperature sensitive.

And even if the driver did know that the box contained insulin, it's a tough position for him to be in. What's worse? Leaving the package outside and hope the person will be home soon to retrieve it before the sun's heat renders it useless? Or, coming back the next day and trying again, running the risk of the recipient having to go without their medicine for another day?

What exactly are they supposed to do?

Why don't you just go to the drugstore?

The UPS driver may not aware that package contain medication. The drug company should know to send all medication Via next day air am which should get to your house by 9am.

I had similar issue in the past, so I called the pharmacy and told them that they need to send it Next Day Early am and since then I never had any problem. Just a suggestion

UPS committing Fraud and get away with it..

After reading several complaints here about UPS i think its very SAD that they can commit CONSUMER FRAUD and nobody does anything about it..I think everybody that has been scammed by UPS and CRAWFORD INSURANCE should file a Class Action Lawsuit and then maybe this FRAUD would stop because they are making a Fortune by Stealing from Consumers over and over again..If everybody gives up and walks away they will continue to Steal,Lie,and committ Consumer Fraud with no punishment done..My complaint has gone thru the BBB and they said they have thousands of complaints about UPS and are finally going to look further into it and them..Also have Filed with the ILLINOIS attorney general's office and they are Investigating the matter also but the only way it will stop is for everybody Involved to Complain enough to get a resolution..

I have severe issues with UPS and have started using USPO Priority Mail. It is half the cost and twice as fast as UPS ground.

UPS continues to deliver packages on the street. I live in a townhouse with a garage on the parking lot which also serves as a street. Criminals can follow the truck around and pickup the packages dumped by ups. I have had $650 equipment pilfered (75pounds!!).

They have destroyed other equipment, promised to pay, and then haven't seen the check for 7 years now!! UPS (or maybe FedEx) has dumped an envelop during a rain and windstorm back there with a $24,000 check that needed to be distributed to others. Luckily I caught it before it blew away!

If anyway possible, go to USPO Priority Mail and get to know your mail carrier as they will bring the mail to the front door (despite managers demands).

If not, complain to the post office and if still not, take them to small claims. I have not had a problem with the USPO.

@Zip Zapper

priority mail half the price of ground? laughable!

if you think 10% is half you really need to buy a calculator.

and btw that 10% less only works on small packages, try checking prices onsay 18x12x12...you'll find ground to be SIGNIFICANTLY less more like 30%. you really are a clueless noob.

You filed with the Better Business Bureau? I bet UPS is shaking in their boots.

The BBB is a BUSINESS in and of itself. If a company receives a negative rating, they just have to pay a fee and it gets removed.

It's basically an extortion racket. And UPS is a big enough company that a few hundred, even thousands, of complaints each year make no difference at all.

@Saleen-

What's funny is that you can type in Fedex on this site's search engine and find all the exact same complaints.

UPS's inefficient delivery change process

First notice I got about a delivery attempt was the sticky that already indicated it was their second attempt and the following day would be their final attempt. I already had plans for the scheduled 3rd attempt so I went online and requested a delivery change to a day after their scheduled 3rd attempt. Tracked it online to make sure my request got processed and it was supposedly processed 3:27 AM Thursday, so I assumed I didn't have to worry. I requested the delivery to be changed to Friday. When I got home Thursday, the sticky informing of me of their 3rd and final attempt was on my door. When I called the 800#, the person apologized because it did show my request was completed and said someone will call me to make arrangements. When someone did call, after 8pm, he left a message telling me to just call the shipper to ship it again. Aren't they wonderful?
