UPS in Toronto, Ontario - Inconsiderate driver, and company

They didn't deliver at the set time, and did not deliver again on their posted time the next day. They expected me to wait 12 hours for the delivery. As far a pickup that was arranged for 9AM-1PM, the driver showed up after 5PM. When you call the delivery/pickup line, the rep spends 5 minutes apologizing to calm you. But nothing is done to correct the problem. If I had my choice I would never use UPS. It appears to be a callous organization, who collects as much business as it can; and then ignores it, regularly

UPS are robbers!

I'm ranting today because of what UPS just scammed me for. I ordered a package three weeks ago, and although it was delivered fast from the US to Canada, I had over 120$ as a COD on it! They made me pay 20 bucks right away, but now, three weeks later, they send me a bill in the mail demanding the other hundred bucks. I mean, a hundred and twenty dollars?! Granted, the shipment I ordered was in six different packages, but none of them were particularly large, and yet they get to swindle me out of that much money? UPS are robbers, thieves and crooks who charge outrageous amounts for such little things!

Those are import taxes that your government's customs agency has charged you. UPS doesn't keep that.

Call the person you ordered from and have them start a tracer on your package. It still shows in transit and also shows it was originally left in a UPS facility, no movement since. You will entitled to a refund and may have to file a claim if they can't find your package.

UPS in San Diego, California - 4 Days no status update and no customer support.

So I ordered a part to get my jeep running from a guy in Florida. On the 15th of this month, it says it shipped and on the 16th, it was en route to Vernon, CA. I checked everyday to see if the status had changed. 17th, Vernon. 18th, Vernon. 19th, Vernon and 20th, still Vernon. So I decided to call UPS customer support to ask them why the status hadn't been updated at all but all I got was an excuse saying they do not have any way of contacting the driver and that if I want to start an investigation, I should call the shipper and have him call UPS to find out more information. I'M THE ONE WHO PAID FOR THE SHIPPING!!!!!! Why can't I get the information I need from them? I just checked the status again and it still says enroute to Vernon, CA since 8-16-11 at 10:49 am. I need to get my jeep running and it seems to me UPS is milking this delivery as much as possible and that's not cool. This is definitely the last time I buy anything from anyone that uses UPS as the shipping courier. What *** me off more is that I paid $15 to basically be irritated and Jeep less. I hate UPS and will stick with USPS from now on.

Shipping from Florida to California by ground takes one full week (5 days transport plus a weekend).

If your item shipped on the 15th it should arrive on the 22nd.

What the other poster said is exactly right.

It's obviously a computer glitch but obviously looks bad. But you can't honestly think your package traveled coast to coast in one day when you're getting a package by ground.

I had this issue once. It ended up being that when a package is tracked, it is tracked in noe of 2 ways..physical scan or computer scan.

This piece I'm sure was a computer scan. No excuse but the center it was last at needs to be called.

You can ask cusotmer service for their number. Nothing is worse then a call froma customer yelling!

What can BROWN aka UPS do to *** ?

I have used UPS for a long time but I will NEVER use them again! My last experience with them turned out to be the final straw ! They have the worst customer service department on the planet and their careless handling of packages especially large heavy ones is unequaled by any other carrier ! They will also refuse a claim at the drop of a hat using lies and every dirty trick in the book along with a plethora of BS excuses and stall tactics to deny that it was their fault or had anything to do with anything behind their hallowed walls ! They once managed to destroy an expensive keyboard that was shipped in a road case and yes the road case was trashed as well ! The keyboard was fully insured and they still tried to wiggle their way out of it ! It took the persistence of the customer and I to work thru their stall tactic and finally after 120 days and a looming lawsuit did they finally concede and honor the claim ! THIS is just one way they take care of their customers. NOT !!! In this my last dealing with them I called them for a pick up and the representative on the other side of the phone asked me for all my information INCLUDING my credit card number for billing purposes and he gave me an estimated price WITH fully insuring the item (another expensive keyboard) and I was told that the driver would be there that day to pick it up. As promised the driver showed up and he filled all the paperwork out names, shipping and delivery address etc etc etc and told me to sign and I would be billed by their customer service department. Everything seemed normal until 3 days later the keyboard arrived at its destination and the customer called me telling me that the box looked like it was thrown under a semi truck! The driver even commented about the condition the box was in and stated that it looks like it went thru the Sampsonite luggage Gorilla test ! Not to take the attention away from the item but the keyboard was damaged but it was repairable ! Not withstanding here is where the HORROR begins !!! Since the item was damaged but repairable the customer chose to keep the keyboard and have it repaired instead of requesting them to totally cover the claim as unrepairable clearly damaged by their carelessness. Well to say the least they denied the initial claim immediately which resulted in my initial contact with their customer service claims department. After explaining how it was packed, what my thoughts were as to how it was damaged in transit and handled, the representative overturned the denied claim and I was told that I would receive claim paperwork in my email and to fill it out and fax it to the claims department with a written estimate to repair the item which I did. I went to a friends office and we faxed all the paperwork over to UPS. Now the BS part 2 begins when 2 days later I received a phone call from them claiming that they will NOT honor the claim because they could not read the part of the shipping receipt that was faxed to them concerning the value of the item stating that nothing was checked off on the shipping ticket for the value of the keyboard ! So I returned back to my friends and we enhanced that page and re sent that page all to no avail ! Going back to the beginning of my complaint about this transaction with UPS, all this information, what was in the package, the size and weight of the package, and how much the item I was shipping was valued at INCLUDING my credit card number for billing was given to the UPS representative who initially took the pick up call from me !!! Now they are telling me that they will only honor the claim for the $100 + the shipping that they supposedly give you and are responsible for & WAIT it gets even better ! I looked on my credit card statement and couldn't find any charges made by UPS for the shipping or otherwise !!! There was nothing, no charges to be found at all in regards to any part of this shipment BUT in the mail that very same day was a bill from UPS billing me for the shipment and low and behold there was a late charge attached to it ! The only thing I received from UPS prior was a claim denial letter, an acceptance of damage claim letter and a package with the same paperwork that I also received in my email to fill out and either mail or fax in to them THAT was it !!! With that being said the shipping cost according to their late imvoice was much less than originally quoted ! I requested a phone record of the initial correspondence and I was told they did not have it and that it was not available and I also asked for a corporate phone number which I was also told they could not provide to me and this was after being put on hold ! This is blatant incompetence and irresponsibility involving more than one department of the UPS company infrastructure and is the shoddiest form of business I have seen by a large corporation in quite some time ! I will be following this up by filing a complaint against UPS in small claims court ! I will also post an update after this issue is resolved. My advice to ALL is use FedEx they arent perfect but far more reliable !

Fedex and UPS bad service

I work at an online internet store. Customer do their shopping on our website and we ship to them with courier mail. We were working with 3 different courier companies, UPS, DHL, Fedex. We started having several problems with Fedex and UPS. UPS - They have VERY BAD customer service. When packages were not delivered on time or the tracking number they provided was not working, we would have to call customer service in order to get information. Whoever we would talk to was never able to help us. They would constantly transfer us to one another. When these issues occurred we never received a solution. Then we would have to end up asking for the package (s) back and refunding the customer. When this happens we lose those customers. Sometimes UPS would not even update the package information. They would go days without updating the information on the computer regarding were the package was located. Even when we would call then we never received any help. Fedex - We never had even 1 package be delivered on time. We worked with them for several months and when we would ship to them customers would always complain about receiving their orders late. And at the end of the week when we would pay fedex for the shipments sometimes they would make us pay double without us even realizing it until after they had left. They would always say we did not pay them for packages from a previous week which then we would have to take out the paperwork that showed them we had paid and it would take days for them to refund us back. Eventually our management started using their head and we stopped working with Fedex & UPS. We always paid the bills on time at the end of the week. And we shipped thousands of packages every week. So they had one of the best businesses from us. But they had terrible service and they never kept their word. Now we only ship with DHL and we never have a problem. So this is a warning for all potential future businesses when they decide to open an online shop.

UPS has LOUSY workers with BAD ATTITUDES

Monday a UPS Delivered package came Mashed IN; tonight (they don't deliver often until 10:00 PM at night) the package arrived partially ripped open. I the past (among many complaints against this UPS Delivery men); one UPS man, when I asked him to bring a Receiver in a box right inside the door, he dropped it on the floor while lifting it in the air. Needless to say: the Receiver he ruined never worked right. I agree: UPS SUCKS!!!! I have reported a few of these problems to Amazon.com, from where most of the damaged items are sent; and I've reported the problems with these delivery men with bad attitudes, how they even mash and RIP OPEN my packages. Amazon says they'll report it, no help; and though I've reported it to UPS "800" number, NOTHING IS DONE TO IMPROVE THE VANDALIZM BY UPS DELIVERY MEN OF MY PACKAGES SENT BY UPS!!!!

The problem is Amazon! They refuse to pack properly and per ALL shippers guidelines.

Why? Because they have so few claims that they are willing to eat the cost vs. the cost in time and supplies to pack their parcels properly.

Boxes travle on a series of vehicles, hand trucks and conveyor systems...The net result, boxes collapse, come apart and arrive damaged.

Your anecdote of a driver lifting a parcel in the air (what, like above his head?) and heaving it to the floor in front of you is absurd on its face. It begs the question why you would ask the driver to put the item in your house and not do it yourself if you were SO concerned.

Why, because its *** pure and simple, like you. ;)

Why the UPS sucks

In Georgia, you need a birth certificate to get an ID. Fine. I can deal with that rule. So I order my BC from OH. I pay extra for UPS to ship it to me in two days. Oh yeah, my ID expired yesterday. So, I come back to the apartment after work yesterday to find a yellow and brown sticker 'you were not here so we will try to deliver tomorrow'. And, I have to sign for the package. Fine. I call the leasing office of the apartment complex. Yes, they can sign for the package and they will hold it for me. The sticker specifically says they will be here between 2-5 on wednesday. I write on the sticker 'Please deliver to Front Office' but I took off work at 1:30 on wednesday so I can be here when UPS comes. I take a taxi to the apartment, get to the door at 1:45 and there is another brown sticker 'you were not here. we will attempt to deliver tomorrow.' I call the leasing office just in case my very important document was delivered there. It was not. I call Jennifer at the local office. After I tell her my story with anger in my voice she tells me that someone will contact me by 3:20. At 3:40, the phone rings and it was a manager who profusely apoligizes but tells me there is no way my envelope can be delivered today. She tells me that some leasing offices have misplaced documents for other customers in the past, so UPS does not deliver to offices any more. My options are to wait for my envelope to be delivered the next day (she will call me in the morning to tell me when that will be. Delivery times are apparently determined by how the truck is loaded) or have my husband drive well out of his way after work to pick it up (after I call a special number to authorize it, of course) I opt to wait for it the next day. Good thing I took the next day off work, huh? I was planning to wait at the DMV tomorrow but will have to settle for waiting around in the apartment all day to sign a paper and get my envelope that I paid extra to have it delivered 3 days ago.

It's UPS' fault that you ordered something that required a signature then failed to be available to sign for it, that makes perfect sense?

Your situation is not a blanket policy for UPS but may be for your center or for your building. You know it's possible there have been a number of claims at your building for missing packages.

You're the same person that would complain when your 'very important' item gets delivered to a leasing office and shows up missing.

If it had been that important you could have made the small sacrifice to pick it up at the local center or made other arrangements such as having it redirected to your office.

Everything doesn't have to be a bummer, except in your world I guess.

UPS Rip Off, Pure Profiteering

Update by user Aug 18, 2011

Well, for those of you who think this is an acceptable practice, you can pay UPS. This has nothing to do with time, fuel or anything else.

They have a contract with Sears and cannot charge any more. This is what is termed in accounting as \"cost shifting.\" It\'s how we pay $600 for a hammer with the defense department or $12 for an aspirin in the hospital.

It\'s a way to shift the costs from the real debtors to someone else. I choose not to pay it and I find their tactics to be a rip off of the consumer, especially when the source company is willing to pay everything, including this \"pickup\" charge.

Original review posted by user Aug 17, 2011

I recently ordered an item. I order from the web a lot because I live in the country and am disabled. It is difficult for me to travel to stores or shop in person. The item arrived and I paid $5.50 for original shipping charges. They substituted the item without my consent, and it does not fit. In attempting to return it, they insist it be returned via UPS and they will pay the shipping charges, which the label shows. This is an international company with an account with UPS. They attempted to have UPS pick up from my home but UPS informed them that they will need my credit card to charge me an additional $11.39, more than double the original shipping charges to pick up the small item. This $11 is pure profit for UPS and they do not return to anyone. They keep it. So, the company pays the shipping both ways and UPS also collects from the *** customer. Not this time. I am filing a complaint with the IRS as I think this type of profiteering needs an audit and I have filed a complaint with the FTC already. As for UPS, I am elderly, disabled and living on a fixed income. This is the first time I have even heard of this policy but I was informed by their rep that they have been doing this to everyone for the past few years. This would be millions and millions of dollars of pure profit for UPS. The Federal Trade Commission already has my complaint on file. If they get enough complaints, they will investigate, according to what they told me.

Sears paid to SHIP the item to you and will pay to SHIP it back to them. You can drop it off at a UPS location for FREE...OR...you can pay to have the item picked-up from your home.

Those are two different things.

If you think pick up should be free ask Sears, the company that made the mistake, to come pick it up and see if they will, for free.

This is not cost shifting it is charging for services requested.

And the comment below about getting the IRS involved is laughable, the IRS is not in the business of monitoring and regulating the retail price of goods and services. YOU are the reason too many people are employed by the government in the first place, some poor sap had to waste time taking your complaint which no one will be following up on.

#330913

you can't realistically think that UPS doesn't have the right to charge a fee when driving out to the middle of nowhere to pick up a package. this is a private company that is designed to make a profit.

the company you ordered it from paid for the return shipping, NOT the additional pick up fee, nor should they quite frankly.

they could have issued a call tag, and a UPS man would come to your house, apply a label and drive off. they chose not to do that.

i understand you're disabled but you have to take some responsibility yourself. you order stuff online because it's easier, but it's the risk you take.

Anonymous
#330358

Maybe this will help...

The company you are shipping through is paying UPS for the shipping, whether it is being sent to you or you are returning the item. What UPS is charging your for is a pick up from your house.

If you take into consideration the time it takes for a delivery truck to go out of the way and pick up your package, that is what you are paying for. You are paying for that delivery truck to stay out longer, which means your money is going towards that drivers hourly wage, fuel costs etc

#330160

Well, you missed the part where they are already being paid for the shipping costs that they charge by the company that made the mistake. So, they want money to deliver it, to ship it back and then charge me twice the costs of the freight.

Just how much money should they be able to make? Do you think they should be paid 4 times for 2 labor events? I don't. And I did get somewhere talking to them and the feds.

I actually haven't had any difficulty with filing complaints with the feds but apparently you have. Sorry that you have had such difficulties with them, but they all have a process that you just have to follow.

Anonymous
#330154

So basically you don't think UPS should be allowed to charge for picking up an item from your house? Wow.

Why wouldn't they charge you? It's not their fault that the company sent you the wrong item.

And you've reported them to the IRS??

Hahahahahaha. Good luck with that.
