UPS

We sent over 1100.00 worth of equipment to Maine using UPS. When it arrived the boxes were totally smashed and the parts inside were smashed to the size of Lego's. After going through a long claims process and filling out papers and faxing them back we were told we would be completely reimbursed. After about 5 days a UPS rep called and said that we would only be given 200.00 back. We had the receipt and everything. The person said there was no manger or supervisor I could speak to and just apologized. Pathetic that a company that whole premise is delivery and they can't even get that right!! Thanks for blowing our Christmas money!!!

@Urmom

I disagree. I think a company should cover ANY damages they cause.

If im paying good money to entrust UPS with my valuables, id expect them to be responsible with them. I should NOT have to pay them extra just so they'll own up to any damage that they cause.

If they dont want to pay for peoples damaged goods then maybe they should stop treating their items like trash. I understand it is necessary to buy insurance to make UPS responsible for their mistakes, but that does NOT make it right!

You should have paid for extra insurance. You went cheap, you got cheap in return. Nobody to blame here but, you and your horrible packing.

UPS sucks

I used UPS store at 9877 chapman Ave Suite D in Garden Grove, Ca 92841 on Dec 9, 2011 at 3:40 pm. I paid $8.04 for a certified mail. I called this store on Dec 10, 2011. I was told the mail is still in this UPS store on Dec 10, 2011 at 10 am (Pacific time). Why does The UPS store took money and doesn't deliver my mail. If i send regular mail . it will arrive next day or two. and not cost $8.04. It only cost $0.44 . wow. I am pissed UPS service. maybe their deliver guy or girl have nice uniform. But i will never use this UPS service for another time. period.

UPS failed to deliver saying I moved from my 16year address

Received post card stating I had to pick up package beacuese I had moved and could not deliver. I have lived at my address for 16 years and have received many UPS packages before. Representative at VA call center refused to deliver the package next day (Sat) because it was "not that type of service". Call center attendant was not receptive to my saying it was UPS mistake and I should get the package delivered Sat. The supervisor was called and she said, incorrectly, there was no delivery on Sat (for UPS ??? !!!). I was on the line for well over 1/2 hour and nothing was resolved.

UPS in Westminster, Colorado - What a nightmare this company is

We buy most stuff online and have no problems with the post office or Fed Ex, but every time Ups comes to the door, our stuff is smashed broken or missing. I hate this company 9 out of 10 times they let you down and then they act like its your fault or that you are to blame and that their sh_t doesn't stink. How they stay in business I don't know. I wish everyone would not accept this kind of service. Please UPS either get out of the business or start to care about what it is you are doing.

UPS is covering up - is it a theft circle?

Today an overnight delivery was to be made to my home. To preserve privacy, I'll just say it was an EXTREMELY expensive, life altering, un-replaceable package. When I arrive home, there is no package. I call the shipper to confirm that it was shipped and it was verified. I call UPS, with my tracking number and I'm told, "yep, delivered at 9:41 am...to your front door". I tell the representivie, no, it is not here. His comment was, "well, you did not request a signed receipt, so we will not be responsible". So I explained what the contents were and how important it was. I asked him to contact the drive, which he told me they would do an investigation but it will take days. Mean while, the shipper contacted UPS and it all of a sudden became a priority. Do you think it's because the shipper spends millions at UPS? UPS calls me to inform me that the driver "miss delivered" and the package was at "xyz my same street name". So I asked them when it would arrive and they tell me not until tomorrow. Glad the shipper paid for OVERNIGHT delivery!!! Then they had the audacity to tell me I should go knock on doors and get it myself if I needed it so bad. REALLY!!! Am I going to get a paycheck from UPS for finding my own package? YOU CAN BET NOT!!! so here is ther real kicker. The address they gave me that their driver said he miss delivered to DOESN'T EXIST. SO, if I worked for UPS and I saw the shipper name that looked like it might have some street value and decided I would just mark it delivered at 9:41 am and let the consumer fight it out. Heck no sign receipt requested, it's the consumer's problem if I just keep it for myself. Then when the consumer calls and absolute insist that the package be located, I'll just give a bogus address that I "miss delivered" it to so they won't be able to locate it. Maybe if my supervisor at UPS pushes me (unless they are getting a cut in the street value) I'll cough it up and just say I made a mistake where I "miss delivered" it to, even though I marked it delivered at 9:41 am at front door. The package that was supposed to be delivered to is un-replaceable. UPS, you are covering up something or your drivers are steeling from your (never again) customers. FIX YOUR PROBLEM!

I have an online business and have been shipping with UPS, USPS and Fed -Ex for 10 years. Most of my products are glass and we are very experienced at packaging fragile items. Every year at X-Mas time, UPS breaks several of my packages. It is because of the increased number of packages shipped at this time of year and their hiring of inexperienced, temporary help.

The point is that EVERY SINGLE CLAIM I've ever made with UPS has been denied. I receive a phone call from someone who knows nothing about the actual claim. They just have a long list of people they call and read a script about how the item was improperly packaged.

If this happens to you, DO NOT ACCEPT their default "It was improperly packaged". Tell them it is unacceptable and you want to talk to an adjuster. This person too will try and deny your claim but keep pushing and they will eventually pay.

As a side note, if the package shows severe damage, they will usually pay immediately.

I had a very similar experience with UPS today: my 40 inch TV was supposedly delivered at 302pm. It was left AT THE DOORSTEP in plain sight in 110 degree heat after being on the truck since 7am.

No surprise....I got home at 530, no TV. I live in a gated community and I have never had anything stolen from outside my house. Either the UPS driver somehow damaged the box/contents and didn't want to fess up or he is the happy owner of a new 1080 HD TV. Of course UPS did nothing over the phone.

They referred me to the seller, ShopNBC.

who will refund my mone in full. I will NEVER use UPS again.

Yep, "another one bites the dust"

Had (and still have) kind of the same of horrible problem with them. 4 of 5 packages sent from Spain to UK with damages that they don't want to pay (computers, so figure out, 3000 value, lost 1000 in broken parts). Plus a 5th package with ski clothes lost that they are asking me after 3 months that if I want it back I have to pay storage at their Germany location.

Guess someone at UPS does not have winter clothing in his wardrobe.

Checking on the net, there is a lot of people suffering from the same, I guess UPS deserve a special website to receive complaints in one source so is easier to people to research about UPS before sending stuff. I'll make one.

USPS did this to me just a couple days ago, but they wouldn't give me the address it was shipped to. After the shipper did an investigation and offered to send me a new one at USPS expense, this caused USP to get out of their lazy chair and snatch the package back and reship it to me. So I told the shipper to hold off on the new order and I'll see if the old one has been tampered with.

Just see my post "Nearly $3000 package thrown to the wind..."

I hope you get retrobution for this.

UPS: DO NOT USE

I used UPS to return a JCPENNEY catalog order containing a man's car coat costing $143.72. UPS lost the package, and then when I faxed in all the paper work requested for the claim, UPS held up the claim for "lack of original invoice" without bothering to tell me. When I finally called to find out why my claim had not yet been processed, I was told I needed to fax the "original invoice" for the item. The "original invoice," of course, was inside the lost package. I faxed UPS my JCPenney's credit card bill showing the cost of the item, but that wasn't good enough for UPS. First they charge me $12.36 to send the package, then they lose the package, then they demand faxes of shipping invoice, merchandise invoice, etc., then without notifying me they hold up the claim because I didn't fax the "original invoice" for the merchandise, which we know was inside the lost package, and now they want me to find some "similar" item on the web to fax a picture of so they can process the claim. Meanwhile I am making payments and being charged interest on a coat that never made it back to Penney's because of the incompetence of UPS. Looks like the only loser here is me. NEVER, NEVER again will I use UPS.

UPS in Stone Mountain, Georgia - Requiring a signature when no was requested, and not honoring drop off time

driver leaves note stating drop off time estimated to be next day after 5; i leave a note stating to just leave it as my neighborhood is designated a "safe" drop off neighborhood by UPS; I arrive home before 5 to find another note stating second attempt made and final drop off will be next day; i call to discuss customer service representative talks to me as if I am new to the whole shipping process (i am a small business owner with a soon to be discontinued ups account)encouraging me to explain to the shipper (my friend) how she shipped the package wrong (it was a gift to my kids!-really!) and that the after 5 designation is an estimate (seems like a really large window to be an estimate and if it was going to be before 5 the driver should have checked the 2-5pm estimate), the last day I was home at 4pm and guess what...another note saying so sorry package is being returned...they OVERNIGHTED it back to my friend! Seems like that cost them more than just dropping it off at the house like my authorization note requested! Anyway, the kids get too many xmas gifts as it is, one less won't hurt them. But ups has lost 2 customers as my friend is equally furious and also a small business owner in the artworld...fedX here we come!!!
