Ups former employee
I am a former ups driver. The complaints that are posted here are no doubt real. The company right now is basically overwhelming there own work force. The drivers stop counts are being pushed up, the average stop count is around 170 stops, split routes as high as 240 stops. Currently, telemetry is incorporated into every package car. Your bulk head door isn't closed a report is printed the next day. Soon cameras will be added to the package car cabs. Ups keeps tightening the screws for driver and management alike. Management followes the drivers who's telemetry report is bad for that day. With video camera in hand they secretly follow a driver and video tape him. The pick up schedules for drivers are unrealistic compared to the amount of stops that a driver must deliver. Some pick ups start at 2 pm , if you have 170 stops you MUST get the bulk of it out before pickups or there maybe no room. Ups makes this job worse for all involved.
UPS in North Las Vegas, Nevada - Getting the runaround
I am scheduled to leave on a one year long assignment overseas. I placed an order which took about five days longer than another package that was shipped out the same day. The package needed a signature (which I didn't know) and I missed the first attempt. I was assurred the next day it would be delivered. I waited at my house and at 12:30 a driver showed up but said that the package must be on another truck. He said he couldn't call the other truck. Apparently UPS just delivers electronics but doesn't use them. Anyway, I kept calling to see if the package was still out and was assured that it would come and that I should be patient. At 7:00 PM I called and was told that drivers can't return to the warehouse until all packages are delivered. I was told to give them until 10:45PM because of heavy volume. I waited, checking occassionally with the customer service folks. In the end, I don't have it, can't pick it up and can't have it delivered until Monday. I leave on Sunday, so the package will not get to me on time. What a huge runaround. I will use FedEx or anyone else from know on. UPS is not the company it once was. This isn't the first time they gave me the runaround but it is the first time that they completely failed. BS at every turn. All for a $140.00 tool.

UPS- 3 Day overnight? Hmmm
After not receiving an overnighted package on Friday (I was not home so driver left a note on my door saying it would be delivered Monday, fair enough), my husband stayed home all day to make sure he could sign for it on Monday. On Friday the driver was "nice" enough to come up to the third floor where my apartment is and leave the note, on monday not even a knock a call, nothing. My husband heard the truck drive away and no package. Instead he went downstairs to find a note saying delivery was attempted and nobody was home, a blatant lie. If the driver had come up the elevator he would have found my husband waiting at the door. Anyway, that is not the worst part when he contacted UPS he was told that if the driver was able he would come back later. They would confirm within the hour. One hour passed and nobody had contacted him. He called back and they told him that he would for sure not be able to come back. Being that it was my passport I was extremely upset when I came home and contacted UPS myself. I explained my situation and how the regular driver always gets into the building and manages to drop off packages even when the buzzer is broken. NO EXCUSE for what the driver did basically. I said if I dont get my passport which i need by the night I will be filing an official complaint against him. They somehow managed to get the driver and he said he would drop it off. It was a different driver that said he had to go look for the first one to pick up the package. We got the passport at 5pm (instead of 10am) finally, in the knick of time. Issue solved right? I was happy with their response but kind of upset that I had to get angry with them to get anything done. Well today, 3 weeks later I get a lecture from the second driver????? WHAT???????? "You're the one that complained huh?".... Me: "Not about you" ( he is the regular guy)...... him: "Still you dont complain"..... Really??? so you guys can keep doing a *** *** job without consequences? I should have said that but I was in shock I was getting lectured by a UPS driver. Then he says "your maiden name isnt even on the directory" .... as i said before the buzzer has been broken before and they still manage to knock on my door, it might have my maiden name but my Apartment number and first name are still on there and he managed to make it all the way up the friday prior. Again all of these things should have been said but I was in shock. He then leaves and sarcastically says "thanks, Smith" (My married name) what an ***!!!! ughhhhhhhh oh and to top it all off the packages today were for my husband and they did not requiere a signature but he still asked for one. These people are full of excuses and not only that, they are rude!!! I was in shock until now so had to vent here, unfortunately when I came to my senses and realized I did nothing wrong he was gone and I couldn't throw him my two cents. He obviously came with a mission to confront me about "complaining" even though in the end I didn't file a complain because I got my passport which is all I wanted. never ordering from them again good old post office is the way to go. Maybe he'll come back and yell at me for this one too........

After asking my sister in law to sit home all day and wait for a package UPS sends me an email at 847pm stating we forgot to load ur item onto the truck so you can have the pleasure of sitting home another day and wait for us to come. My only request was that I have an aprox time of arrival so I didn't sit home all day yet again. Of course 15 calls and 8 hours later I receive a call from the call center stating the driver has 45 deliveries befor you so he will be there by 830 pm. So yet again I sat home all dam day again with no result. Not just that the person was very nasy and disrespectful at the call center. They need to develop a better grievance process. I will never ever use UPS again and I will never order from a company that uses UPS.
UPS: Shipped with Incompetance
I had a package to be delivered to my address in July. I live in a townhouse complex with several units in a row, and letterings on all the doors to denote the unit. I live in Apartment I. Supposedly, on the day that my package was delivered, they knocked on someones door and the occupant responded that I no longer lived there. So, without contacting me, they rerouted the package back to the other side of the continent. I called the UPS number, as I had been tracking the package online, within the hour of the package being turned around from my door. I was assured by the CSR that the package would be intercepted at its location and shipped back to me. 2 weeks later, I got email confirmation that was received back by the shipper. Unhappy, I talked to UPS and the shipper about getting a refund on the items, which was doable, and the shipping, which was not doable because "The latitude and longitude looked approximate to your location". The only problem is that I was home at the time it said it drove to my door, and saw no sign of the UPS truck all day. Repeated calls to UPS to let them know the driver was mistaken ended up on deaf ears. Their line was "Well, we're looking at facts and we can't help you." They value the Driver's word above all. Nevermind that I got packages successfully before and after this incident. Long story short, UPS refused to reimburse the shipper because of their incompetance.
UPS Delivery Man Tells Me to Shut Up
The delivery man was walking up my front sidewalk with a package. I was walking down my driveway and called out to him, "Sir, Sir." He did not respond so I called out "Sir, Sir, from UPS." He dropped the package at my front door and continued into his truck. I told him, Sir, I am talking to you and he responded "Shut Up" and drove off in his truck. I wanted to inquire if he needed a signature and also wanted to immediately take the package in hand because it was an item of value. It appears that UPS needs to revamp its training of drivers.
Sewing machine company is shipping me an expensive unit after a repair. Our UPS delivery is via miles of dirt roads which are greatly damaged by monsoon rains. So I want to pick the delivery up at UPS. So I call UPS and ask if they can hold the package at their service...
UPS in Frankfort, Kentucky - Forgot to put your merch on the truck?!?!
Ordered merch from a store in Oregon, made it all the way across the country, called to arrange delivery well beforehand with the local UPS receiving center, wait around all day on the supposed date of delivery for them to call as previously arranged and after the agreed upon end time, NO CALL!! When I call the local UPS receiving center and inquired as to where's my stuff?, they were like "Oopsie we forgot to load it on the truck." Are you serious bro?!?! So I had to drive 30 miles one way to pick it up at their office (didn't want them to 'forget to load it on the truck' again)!! So much for the pre-arranged delivery!! Thanks for nothing UPS. BTW you owe me $25.00 for gas and another $10 for the ticket I was going to use that night but had to miss to go get my stuff.
