UPS in Richmond, Virginia - No effort

I am completely and totally pissed. I have been anticipating an expensive package for a week now, and on the day it was scheduled to arrive, (today) I stayed at home all day waiting for it to arrive. Didn't take a shower, or even use the bathroom (number 2) so there is almost no way i wouldve missed it. I never even left the house. I live in an apartment so it is not like I wouldnt of heard them knocking on my door if they delivered it. I waited... And waited... The whole day. No exaggeration. Checked the tracking number every 30 minutes to see updates, and checked out the windows almost every time I heard any type of vehicle. Out of nowhere, while I was checking the tracking, it claims that there was an attempted delivery, but no one there to receive it. Nobody ever came to the door, or knocked, an I never saw a UPS truck. No single person came, and I would've known. Now i have to drive 1 hour round trip to their *** facility to pick the package up, when it was supposed to be delivered to my door today. I am so extremely pissed. Spent all day waiting intently for nothing

UPS Wants To Sell Other Businesses Logistics?

Apparently UPS is too busy these days fixing logistics to deliver packages. On Friday, a package required signature (new laptop) that should have been delivered Wednesday(I took time off to recieve, but they didn't show), then Thursday (called and was told Monday) was brought to my home on Friday while I was not home. No problem. The driver left a 'Will Attempt to Deliver Again Monday May 6 between the hours of 2P and 5P' on my door. Took another half day off. Arrived at my house at 1:30P only to find another 'Will Attempt to Deliver Again' notice, only now for Tuesday May 7 between the hours of 2P and 5P. I called the number on the sheet at 1:35P. Was told that I had reached the domestic shipping number and had to call the international number since it was an international (Lenovo) shipment. She couldnt connect me. I call the number she gave. I gave the person on the line the number from the notice left Monday and she said 'This hasnt been attempted yet.' I asked how can that be if he left it on my door and I have the number. She said 'The driver will try again later' and I said 'Yes, he stated on here tomorrow'. This went round and round until I asked for a supervisor. 10 minutes on hold and he came on and said the same things she had. I offered 'You need to call the driver and tell them to come back'. He said he would have to call 'Central somethingorther' to even know if that was possible. I said 'I'll wait, do it'. He came back a few minutes later and said he would get back with me within an hour and took my number. 15 minutes later I get a call from a local number and its the UPS depot. They had contacted the driver and that he would 'TRY' and get it there. I said 'NO. YOU NEED TO TELL HIM TO GET HERE DURING THE TIME HE SAID HE WOULD'. She said 'He'll try'. I said 'Try does me no good. He needs to bring that between 2 and 5'. She said 'OK' in a flippant tone. It's 5:30 and he's not here, so clearly 'TRY' isn't in their repetoire. I have to take another afternoon off to get this? RIDICULOUS. I am writing LENOVO next and encouraging them to pick another carrier. I will NEVER choose UPS again. This is ridiculous.

UPS lied to get me in the store, then changed their price quote

Employees from this store gave me misleading information on the phone to get me in the store. I will actively avoid using UPS for any future shipping needs.I called the UPS store to ask how much they charge for shipping a set of golf clubs in a golf bag. I gave them info about the dimensions, weight and destination, and they quoted a price for me. After spending an hour doing my own preparation to ship the golf clubs, I drove to the store to have them shipped. When I arrived, the employee then told me that the real price for shipping the clubs was 3 times higher than the original quote! When I asked why the price had changed, they avoided the question and never gave me a reasonable answer...

i'm betting your conversations went something like this...

"i want to ship some golf clubs in a bag"

"ok, where are they going, what size is your box and what is the weight?"

"oh, i don't know, probably 20#, and a regular size of a golf bag"

"so you'd say 20# and 36 inches high...42 inches high...like this?"

"oh yeah, like 36 inches"

"so 36" by 12? or what exactly?"

"well, just your regular golf bag size"

"ok so 48 by 14 by 12..."

"oh no, smaller"

"so how small?"

"oh...36 by 8"

"and the third dimension?"

"huh?"

"the third dimension. all packages have three dimensions...length, width and depth. so 36 by 8 by...8? 12? 14?"

"oh yeah 8"

"ok so 36 by 8 by 8...going to what zip code?"

"i'm not sure. i tbhink its cleveland, something like that"

"ok, a 20# package sized 36 x 8 x8 going to a residence..."

"no it's a business"

"ok going to a business...in cleveland ohio, zip code 44130, would be $34.66"

three days later...

"i'm here to ship my golf clubs"

"ok, let's see what you have there. well looks like the cost will be $83.48"

"wtf! you told me $34 bucks. liars!"

"really? do you remember the particulars of what you were quoted qand the size of the package etc?"

"no, i remember it was 34 bucks though"

"well, your package is 33#, the size is 48 x 14 x 12 and it's going to cleveland georgia zip code 30528 and you've said it's worth $300. with those parameters, the cost is $83 and some change."

"well that's not what you told me on the phone"

"and do you remember who you spoke with"

"no, but it should only be $34! why did you change the price? you lied just to get me into the store...can you tell me why the price is different?"

"no. because i have no idea what you said when you called. but as the package sits today, the cost is $83"

"i'm going to write a review on the internet...you jurks!"

UPS-unreliable and unresponsive

Received a call from UPS stating my delivery would arrive within two hours. No one ever showed or called. Received another call the next day saying the delivery would arrive the following day between 1 and 5. Again, no call, no delivery. After wasting 7 hours waiting for this delivery I called to complain and was greeted with all kinds of excuses. Finally lost my temper and they parcel arrived at 7 PM. I received an email regarding my satisfaction which I answered with the facts and received another with an apology (like they care)saying I would hear from someone about the issue by two today. Not a word! This company is a joke and I will never use them again. Stick with FedEx.

UPS in Ophir, Oregon - Shoddy delivery - No response to complaint

I ordered a Samsung HDTV via Amazon. When the truck arrived, I looked inside, and noted that the (large) box, clearly marked "This Side Up", was upside down. There were two large holes in the box, apparently from shipping damage. When the driver took it off the truck, the box contents sound dreadful; rattling and loose. The driver said, "You better open it" and I did. Luckily, I could see no damage to the interior box that contained the TV. As a precaution, I wrote to UPS about the problem thinking that the TV might not work. I received no response from this contact. I later contacted them again received a response saying that a rep. would call me regarding the issue. I've never heard from anyone.

unless you are shipping by freight carrier, no carrier (ups, fedex, or usps) will guarantee directional shipping ie this side up. packages travels miles of automated equipment, skinny lcd tv parcels can't travel upright in such systems.

all that said, i'm not sure what your complaint is. your tv works but you want someone from ups to acknowledge noting is wrong with it? sounds like you're crying over nothing.

hey nothing went wrong with my shipping i want you to accept blame for nothing. and if you don't i'll post on a website for no reason. tool. #smh

UPS in Monroe, Louisiana - 0 for 9

I have had 3 packages delivered through UPS. Well, I shouldn't say delivered, as they never are. Rather, the drive claims to attempt delivery 3 times for each package, but never leaves an info notice. Today he is 0 for 9 over three packages. I have complained to their local office, I have called Amazon and told Amazon never to ship me anything with them again. (Amazon is helpful in they mark your account as preferring FedEx over UPS so it is at least less likely UPS will be the delivery company. I highly recommend this step, if enough people complain Amazon may change.) Now I spoke to a guy who claims to be the head of the local office, after he refused to give me contact info for the person above him. We'll see what happens, I suppose. To add to this, I have seen one of their drivers, probably the one who is supposed to deliver to me, sitting in a parking lot in the truck for over 2 hours. I guess he has a lot of spare time, as he isn't really attempting to deliver things anymore.

UPS are thieves

I had a prescription that was shipped overnight via UPS. What can brown do for you? Well they tried once for delivery. I was unavailable, so they were supposed to make a 2nd and 3rd attempt. I called UPS several times, and after 5 days they informed me that the package was lost. Lost, is a funny term for stolen. I will never use *** brown ever again. Interesting side note, after having one UPS representative tell me that the package is lost and that I need to contact the pharmacy that shipped the package, I called UPS again to be told that the package is scheduled for delivery today. One way or the other one of the two people that I talked to today is liar. The package was last seen at 1709 Shady Oaks Dr. Denton, TX which is the closest UPS will call location. UPS used to be a very dependable organization, obviously changes in leadership and the influence of the Teamsters Union have taken their toll on an otherwise decent organization.

UPS delivered an opened package to an untrustworthy neighbor

I ordered a product from Amazon and the UPS driver delivered it to a neighbor I do not trust, leaving a note on my door. I never gave permission for UPS to give my packages to that neighbor. I am now reluctant to order anything that might be delivered by UPS. The tracking number is 1Z 13F1 9A4 03 9902 2995. That neighbor opened the package to see what was in it. In the future I would like UPS to hold any undeliverable packages at UPS for me to pick them up. Nothing was lost or damaged, but this neighbor might continue to tamper with future UPS deliveries since she does not work and is home all day. Her name is Adela. I can't understand why the UPS driver would arbitrarily give her my packages. Yes, not only am I pissed off, but alarmed--now that Adela has succeeded in interfering with my deliveries, she will continue.

i also had this occur in a different city. though my neighbor didn't open it, still, it was an unauthorized alternate delivery. I had to wait for her to get home, and then ask her for the package. :roll

I called to complain about this, and ups first told me they aren't supposed to deliver to others unauthorized; then i got a callback and the 2nd guy says they often do this. so i told them they shouldn't as they have no clue as to the character or relationship of the neighbor! for all they know they could be desperate druggies who will run down to the local pawn shop with your goods. For all they know it isn't really the neighbor but their guest or babysitter. :(

This is the only time this has happened to me, and interestingly, it was also a delivery from Amazon.

I think Amazon has a cut rate contract with ups so ups cheaps out on the deliveries. they don't want to return for 2nd attempt to deliver, etc. as it costs them more to do this.

my advice is to call ups and complain, ask them to stop this practice altogether, and tell them to mark your name and address as one who they shouldn't do this type of alternate delivery for, but they should get your authorization on the door sticky note as to what type of delivery you will take.

I think you can specify Fedex or some other delivery service for your mail order products. I certainly would. UPS isn't nicknamed "oops" for nothing!

UPS in San Diego, California - Nice way to bone a good customer

My yearly tab with UPS is around $300-500,000. I shipped a 2nd day package Wednesday to arrive Friday in San Diego for a trade show. It got put on the wrong truck (WTF!) and didn't make it. It's in San Diego now (Saturday), but they refused to deliver it SINCE I HADN'T PAID FOR SATURDAY DELIVERY. Um, no. I paid to have it HERE BY FRIDAY. There is a Monday 8:00 delivery, but they refuse to deliver it then SINCE I HADN'T PAID FOR EARLY MONDAY DELIVERY. They have said that we might - might - get it Monday afternoon. Well, thanks. That's after the show is over. Seriously, WTF?

lol, you claim a loss of 10k.

you don't do anywhere near 500k a year in shipping with ups, if you did you would know their policies. more likely you are an ocassional shipper. i doubt ups will miss your $10 per month shipping.

btw if your packages were late you are entitled to a refund of your shipping cost. again, something you would know if you shipped frequently. tool.

Yes, it was a hand-built printing press inking system prototype. $10,000 is merely the material cost, not the actual value. You *do* realize that expensive equipment is shipped UPS, right? The fact that you think shipping $10,000 is not possible is hilarious. Just two weeks ago, a $50,000 sensor came in for me via FedEx.

craigy-poo, you do realize that an item that is worth $10k and arrives late does not mean you suffered a $10k loss, right?

yep, your a real genious, sweetheart.
