UPS in Huntsville, Alabama - Two rates, same package

UPS store #4355 Huntsville, Alabama. yesterday evening i was quoted a rate to send PAPERS, less than a pound, to another state. today at UPS store, same papers, different rate. when asked why the difference (it was NOT a few cents, it was MANY dollars)and asked store to call their own 800# and see what rate they got quoted, i was told: why don't I CALL them again!!! seriously? THIS is how you respond to a customer? well...at least FEDEX is nearer to where i live and offers actual CUSTOMER SERVICE. wont EVER ship another thing UPS...their loss too, since holidays are big time shipping for this family. maybe they no longer NEED paying non corporate customers to stay in business.

Well, try to ignore the spammer.

As you should know, all The UPS Store locations are independently owned an operated. If another store made a mistake it is not a totally different store's responsibility to see what happened. I have absolutely no idea why you would want a store employee to call UPS's 800#, what does the 800# have to do with anything?

UPS's 800# (1-800-742-5877) is owned and operated by UPS! The shipping company. The UPS Store is totally separate from UPS. So, by connecting the dots you should now know that UPS's 800# has NOTHING to do with The UPS Store! Got that?!

UPS in Hamilton, Ontario - "you have to come to the door to receive the package"

I have long been awaiting a package from the UK. It had been over 3 weeks since they had shipped it and said it would take 9 days. Finally I found a notice on the door that I missed the delivery and they would be back tomorrow from 10am until 5pm. So my family timed out our day so that there would always be two people at home. My mother goes out to run errands at 4pm. When she returns an hour later (I sat on the couch by the door the whole time waiting to no avail) she found another slip on the door saying that they had been by at 2pm. This is the 3rd time this has happened. I've even seen the guy write his slip in the truck and stick it on my door without knocking or even taking my box out of the truck. Then when we called their office and explained our situation and that we were not pleased, the woman on the phone told my mother that, "You know, you do have to go to the door to receive a package." Then they told us they were out of our area for the day and we'd have to wait until tomorrow.

They just don't seem to care that they are in the business of delivering stuff to their customers. The whole experience of me receiving a package has been horrowing to say the least. and no amount of calls and mails help - and they genuinely try to *** of the customer...

I have absolutely no idea of what you are trying to say. Why would you email?

Email gets you no help. It is very slow because someone has to read it over then email you back.

If you called the 1800# and ask the automated system for a representative, you would be immediately connected. After that, explain your predicament and if it is a small problem then they will help you ASAP.

UPS Charlotte NC

Here we go again with these incompetents running UPS in Charlotte NC. Again another package delivered to the WRONG ADDRESS. File a complaint and never hear back from them. And they wonder why they are not used anymore. You pay a lot of money for them to get it right and they find a way to mess it up. Then you have to wait days for them to correct their stupidity. I use to work for UPS loading trucks in my younger days. And if you made a *** mistake like this, you were gone. It is just hard to believe the address is clearly stamped on the package and they still find a way to deliver it to an address that is not even close. They should make the one who makes the mistake, personally hand deliver the package with a full refund to the shipper. But again it is UPS. They can't spell delivery. My suggestion, and I really hate to say it because I have had my issues with them as well is using USPS. Never had issues with FedEx but of course I don't use them as often. Oh well, lets give them a shot. Just stay away from UPS and anyone who uses UPS. That is, of course, you want your package delivered.

UPS will not pick up on schedule for someone who pays for their service to do so when we complain they just laugh in your face. there is no way to talk to someone in authority I have been trying for months and just get a snotty attitude for an answer. WAKED UP U P S you are *** off your customers. I have to pay overtime or deliver my shipments to a UPS store myself oh by the way I pay for pickup service. the salesman for UPS just ignored my complaint and the local customer service person that called back was rude. the only nice people are the ones who answer the phone but can do nothing. what a job!!!

UPS in Chelmsford, Massachusetts - FRUSTRATED PACKAGE RECEIVER

While trying to locate my package I discovered that customer is useless to the package receiver. The phone number connects to a computer, not a real person and only does what it is programed to do. No provisions for lost packages exist. Their e-mail claim service is a big joke. They ask for information on the shipping label. If I don't have the package then I don't have the shipping label. You can't file a claim whithout it. I can't find any way to contact a living human being at UPS without going to their wharehouse and wasting more time. I eventually found my package at the end of my driveway 350 feet from my house 2 days later as I was leaving even though tracking said it was left on my front steps. Either the driver was too lazy to get out of his truck or he does'nt know to backup or turn his truck around. My main problem is with management. Why would they setup a customer line that does'nt provide any service?

UPS destroyed my computer and refuses to fix it

I was moving back home from Vancouver, WA and shipped a very expensive computer used for 3D Animation. I declared the value of the computer, and although I was a little hesitant as the woman at the UPS store seemed like she was in training, I paid the 200.00 shipping fee and flew back home to Missouri. Upon delivery the boxes corners were smashed in, the foam peanuts were 6 inches from the top of the box, and the tape was barely hanging on. When I removed the computer I heard something rattling inside, which was both Hard Drives broken loose from the rails and had been bouncing around destroying the motherboard and Video Card. Upon calling UPS they wanted me to get a 3rd party estimate on repair which I did. The total came to $1,394.16 which replaced the hardware, recovered data on the hard drives, and the labor. 3 weeks later UPS is saying that the data recovery, which was quoted right around $600.00 for both drives, is not covered and they refuse to pay it. So I have been out of work for 3 weeks and they are not wanting to fix the package to 100%... Horrible company, as much as I hate FedEx it looks like I am going there instead from now on.

Let me assess the situation. Did The UPS Store pack it or did you.

I am assuming you, as you said you paid the "shipping fee" no mention of packing.

If the store packed it and you insured it for the total value of $1400, then you're covered. I'd expect about a month and a half before you receive the settlement check, but you're covered. If the hard drives were damaged, then you're entitled to a new one.

However, they don't have to pay for data recovery as I'm assuming this is your complaint. Files don't cost anything! They damaged property, not invisible data!!!

I understand your being upset, but why didn't you back up your data on an external hard drive and take that with you in your luggage? The same goes with FedEx and the USPS!!!

@Nick1346

excuse me, but data definitely has value. it's not system files, which can be restored and reinstalled; it's someone's animation creations. it is a result of their own work and has assessable value and that's real assessable damage. however it's true that it's best to create backups and take them with you physically when you move.

still, ups did not pay the true value of what ups mishandled and destroyed: it has a replacement cost that they are failing to supply. it is possibly, entirely their fault; unless the pc was not anchored properly in the box. packing peanuts alone will not necessarily do it as pc's are heavy.

if there was any statement of coverage up to your stated loss amount, they are liable. though maybe not if there was no statement of coverage that would include your entire amount. if they only covered your item up to a certain dollar amount, that is their limit and they don't have to pay more.

but if the coverage was a higher amount and your value loss fits within it, the customer should talk to an attorney and pursue it that way. attorneys do not charge anything up front for lawsuits to recover value. they charge after they win, make sure you get that in writing though. make sure they will charge the ups company their attorney fees as well.

Please trust me when I saw I entirely understand and agree with both UPS and the customer. But the contract that he signed when he shipped it specifically states what's covered and what's not when it comes to UPS's "Declared Value" (aka Insurance,) data and documents are not covered. If UPS loses a contract that's got $10,000 on the line, and UPS loses it, they are only to be reimbursed for the cost of the paper. So basically 20 cents, even if the package was insured for the $10,000. I am talking law here, not what's right and wrong in a perfect world.

They damaged property. He is to be reimbursed for the property. I'll say it again, DATA HAS NO PHYSICAL VALUE!!! It's invisible, you can't reach out and break it! Data is just like a thought! Yes, when put into a physical item, it is worth something, until then, it's worth nothing.

If you are trying to place blame on The UPS Store, he's even MORE out of luck. The contract (PSO) is quite possibly the best contract ever written by lawyers, it takes ALL liability away from the store. Even if they did pack it wrong.

I feel bad for the guy, but that's why you should never trust anyone, I've shipped my computer twice before and nothing ever happened (I packed it myself at my UPS Store where I work as I would any customers computer) and nothing ever happened. Once with my desktop PC and once my laptop. Every time I backed it up on my external hard drive AND online.

If he didn't do that, he's quite unfortunately out of luck.

I'm not stating that the data has any value, I am stating that the cost of recovering said data is $300 per drive.

As far as a invisible property is concerned there is such a thing as Intellectual Property which considers thoughts and intangible material as property. So yes, it does have value. Maybe not according to UPS but federal law supersedes that.

Considering that the store representative never brought this up and after speaking to the store manager himself after he admitted that the UPS reimbursement was wrong and that they should cover the full repair cost.

The data itself is backed up, although not as a ghost file, so I am still losing time from my actual job by having to repair the computer myself. The original point remains, UPS is a horrible company.

Why would you sit around for two days waiting for UPS to come and pay $10 for a pick-up? If your time is so *** important, why wouldn't you drop it off at a UPS Store or any UPS drop-off location? For free even!!!!
