Don't Use UPS!!!! They will not honor damage claims!

I shipped an antique lamp covered the lamp for the full value. The box was clearly marked 5 times on each side Fragile. My customer received the package and the lamp was damaged. UPS takes not responsibility for their actions in the shipping process. I supplied them with pictures of the lamp before and after shipping. They stated, they needed to see the packaging. The customer threw the packing out, as anyone would do, so I lost out on the credit I issued to the customer for the damages. I was not going to have my customer pay full price for a damaged lamp. I will not do business any longer with them, why pay extra for insurance if they are not covering claims, and they are keeping the money. They are theifs. DO DO BUSINEES WITH UPS. I paid $259 to ship a lamp!

USPS will insure your package and help get it to the destination in one piece.

No matter how you pack it, UPS will claim it wasnt packaged properly.

The need to have the packaging is to see if the package was properly packaged. how many inches of padding surrounding, bubble wrap, styrofoam, peanuts, shrink wrap blah blah blah

Did you pack the item properly? Not what you assume to be properly packed, but as the UPS standards.

These standards are common for all carriers and can be found on each website. I have worked for UPS for 14 years and have only had 1 package damaged.

That is because I know how to pack. If a package is properly packed, very rarely will it get damaged, and if so UPS will honor a claim.

UPS - Automatic cancel of user registration accounts

I have a B2B company that occasionally needs to ship something on another company's UPS number. For that, a UPS account number is required. Fed Ex is easier to use, so I normally go with them. Well, it so happens I went 6 months without logging into the UPS account and they automatically deleted my username and password... and six years of valuable addresses in my online "UPS address book." So I called UPS and they said they sent me an email warning of the cancellation. I checked. Sure enough, I did get an HTML email which looks exactly like many fake UPS phishing spam emails I have also received to the same email account. So I thought it was a scam/spam and never dreamed UPS was actually threatening to cancel my account after 6 years unless I simply logged in. You know, as an owner of four companies I stay pretty busy. I don't have time to "log in" just for fun to a UPS account. I created the account, I expect to be there WHEN I NEED IT. Who the *** set this bird-brained policy at UPS? It costs NOTHING to leave a user account in place. There's no maintenance for electrons. And who decided that 6-months would be the arbitrary cut off date which is not even needed in the first place? And this company wants to compete with Fed Ex? Wow. And do they not know by now that phishing scammers copy their exact HTML style? What really puzzles me is this: with all the advertising they do to attract customers, why on earth would UPS deliberately dismantle their own production lines that feed their business? I can bet however I got the answer: some genius thinks that by forcing people to log in every 6 months, that is going to result in an shipment. In my case I hereby promise to use FED EX or USPS exclusively and only use UPS and their stumblebum system as a last resort.

UPS in Norman, Oklahoma - No refund

I order some stuff for 1 day shipping. They never told me I would need a signature. I thought they would just drop it off at the door, but no they took it back and said they cant give me back the one day delivery refund because they tried to deliver it. RIP OFF! They try to tell me they'll try again the next few days, but I will be gone all the times they would drop it off. I only have a bike and can't go pick it up myself (beats the purpose of a delivery)UPS sucks. They pretty much *** people out of shipping money. Hopefully I can get my stuff because I ordered one day shipping for a reason! They were presents for someone's birthday! UPS can go burn in ***.

Ups has nothing to do with how you selected to have it shipped. Ups had nothing to do with the shipper deciding to make it a signature required delivery.

The shipper could just as easily selected basic, which is an automatic driver release, no signature required, even if you lived in an undesirable release area. Ups did everything they were paid to do by the shipper, take it up with them

Think about this.

The party you ordered the item from put a signature required on the shipment.

Had the other party informed you of this at the time you ordered it, you would have been able to advise them that no one would be home and to leave it without a signature.

If they insisted on a signature, you could have had it sent to a different address where it could have been signed for.

UPS followed the Shipper instructions for a signature in this case they did nothing wrong.

Your anger is better to be directed at the shipper who insisted on a signature.

UPS in Atlanta, Georgia - Package delivery

I ordered a pkg from QVC and UPS would not leave it at neighbors apt even though it was in next bldg. When I went to UPS facility I was told that it was at drivers discretion to leave it not., so instead of leaving pkg UPS came to my apt 3 times and could have left pkg on second trip. It was a wedding gift and I couldn't get it in time to leave for wedding. This is lousy service from a company that I have trusted for over 40 yrs. From now on it will bEe FEDEX OR USPS.

do you think the driver can just go to 2 addresses for 1 package? That's not a cost effective or productive way to operate a business. You could have paid for the reroute to the alternate address, problem solved.

The UPS driver has no responsiblity to leave a package other than where the label indicates. It is not a choice for him.

Knowing you wouldn't be home, you as the reciever could have made arrangements to have it held for pick up at the hub, or at a UPS Store. Regardless I am sorry it didn't make the wedding.

UPS in Severn, Maryland - Damaged package with an item missing - no follow-up call as promised

I received a package containing items I had ordered. Item consisted of two medium sized items and one very small item (SD memory card). The shipper placed all of the item in one large box. When UPS delivered the box the tape on the box ends, top and bottom, was broken, which created a big gap on each end. The box end were also damaged as if the box was crushed between other items. The tape along the box flaps length wise on the top and bottom was intact so the larger items could not fall out, the gaps on the end were more than wide enough for the memory card to fall out. I was home when it was delivered so I opened the box immediately. The invoice showed that three item were shipped but only two were in the box. The memory card was missing. I called UPS to see if the driver could check the floor of the truck but customer service said they cannot contact the driver. They took my information, asked me to hold onto the box, and said someone would call me. After waiting 3 days for a follow-up call from UPS, I called them. The UPS representative stated that I needed to contact the shipper to resolve the problem. I asked, I how would I have known that I needed to contact the shipper regarding a damaged box delivered by UPS if UPS never calls me back. I've been waiting for UPS follow-up with me. If I had never called UPS I would still be waiting.

SOUNDS LIKE A SHIPPING ISSUE WITH IMPROPER PACKAGING, SMALLER ITEMS SHOULD BE PACKAGE SO AS NOT TO SLIDE OUT OF A POORLY SEALED PACKAGE

It is up to the shipper to securely box and secure all packages.

UPS LIES!!!!

I'm expecting a package to be delivered on 11/13/13 it was going to be a total of 4 packages. The three packages came so I was still waiting for the last one so me and my boyfriend chilled outside on our porch for two hours (6 pm-8-pm) and waited for UPS to arrive. I was also checking my phone for any updates. Then I called their customer service and she told me that he is still out for delivery so I said okay and she assured me that my packaged was still going to get delivered. So we waited until 8 pm and no delivery. I checked the status online once again and it said that the driver has made his first attempt at 7:25 and that no one was there. So I quickly called UPS customer service back and this rude operator was telling me exactly what I have read and I told her that report was a lie and that the driver had made no attempts whatsoever because I was outside the whole entire time and I have cameras in my house so there is no possible way that i would have missed the delivery. She assured me that my stuff was going to get delivered I just don't trust that because the last time the told me that they are going to do a second delivery they sent all my package back. They are *** ***.

UPS in Tamarac, Florida - They can't even wait two minutes

I heard a knock on my door so as i got up to answer, I hear the package being thrown over my gate and the driver was already leaving. Couldn't he wait 2 minutes until i opened the gate for him. He broke the package and as he was leaving gave me a face as if i was taking 20 minutes to open the door. I didn't know it was that big of a deal to wait under 5 minutes for someone to ope the door. On top of everything the package delivered broke so now I have to return it.

2 mins or 5? either way....

no.

if he was able to driver release it why waste time waiting. However throwing it over a gate is unacceptable

If the driver knocked on your door, how was there a gate to throw your package over? He would have had your package with him at the door, and would have been able to just set it down.

Drivers have more than 250 individual addresses to deliver to each day. Waiting 2 min per stop is 500 min, which means they are spending most of their day waiting around.

The drivers do not have 2 min per stop to wait.

Update by user Nov 18, 2013

An update to this. UPS contacted the shipping agent who told them a month ago to abandon the shipment, despite it being our property.

since then we've had an update. UPS returned one missing item 24 hours after I told them I would be pressing criminal charges against...

You had how much weight in boxes inside the chests?

Those are cheap units you buy and put together at home.

They were nver designed or intended to be moved when full of contents.

UPS in Austin, Texas - NO delivery, now I have to wait until MONDAY...?

UPS - the ABSOLUTELY Worst shipping company in existence. I had ordered an Amazon product to be delivered on Friday. Their "logistics" said it was "out for delivery" on Friday at 4 AM. But Friday night when the UPS delivery man came, there was nothing. Luckily he had stopped by my neighbor and I came out to greet him. He said he had nothing for me, but to call their Dispatch. So I did. they Indicated my package was on ANOTHER truck, and called me back to say the Driver would drive out to me to deliver the package on Friday night. The Driver NEVER delivered the package...so I called UPS customer service this morning... their response? "I'm Sorry, the package is locked on a trailer and since, the package wasn't marked for Saturday delivery, it will be delivered on MONDAY." Of course the fact that it was UPS who had an issue and made a delivery mistake meant nothing. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

You should contact Amazon and complain. If the delivery was, in fact guaranteed for Friday they will attempt to assuage your anger with them.

Amazon is pretty good about customer complaints. They also need to know when one of their delivery methods fails.
