UPS in Severn, Maryland - Damaged package with an item missing - no follow-up call as promised

I received a package containing items I had ordered. Item consisted of two medium sized items and one very small item (SD memory card). The shipper placed all of the item in one large box. When UPS delivered the box the tape on the box ends, top and bottom, was broken, which created a big gap on each end. The box end were also damaged as if the box was crushed between other items. The tape along the box flaps length wise on the top and bottom was intact so the larger items could not fall out, the gaps on the end were more than wide enough for the memory card to fall out. I was home when it was delivered so I opened the box immediately. The invoice showed that three item were shipped but only two were in the box. The memory card was missing. I called UPS to see if the driver could check the floor of the truck but customer service said they cannot contact the driver. They took my information, asked me to hold onto the box, and said someone would call me. After waiting 3 days for a follow-up call from UPS, I called them. The UPS representative stated that I needed to contact the shipper to resolve the problem. I asked, I how would I have known that I needed to contact the shipper regarding a damaged box delivered by UPS if UPS never calls me back. I've been waiting for UPS follow-up with me. If I had never called UPS I would still be waiting.

SOUNDS LIKE A SHIPPING ISSUE WITH IMPROPER PACKAGING, SMALLER ITEMS SHOULD BE PACKAGE SO AS NOT TO SLIDE OUT OF A POORLY SEALED PACKAGE

It is up to the shipper to securely box and secure all packages.

UPS LIES!!!!

I'm expecting a package to be delivered on 11/13/13 it was going to be a total of 4 packages. The three packages came so I was still waiting for the last one so me and my boyfriend chilled outside on our porch for two hours (6 pm-8-pm) and waited for UPS to arrive. I was also checking my phone for any updates. Then I called their customer service and she told me that he is still out for delivery so I said okay and she assured me that my packaged was still going to get delivered. So we waited until 8 pm and no delivery. I checked the status online once again and it said that the driver has made his first attempt at 7:25 and that no one was there. So I quickly called UPS customer service back and this rude operator was telling me exactly what I have read and I told her that report was a lie and that the driver had made no attempts whatsoever because I was outside the whole entire time and I have cameras in my house so there is no possible way that i would have missed the delivery. She assured me that my stuff was going to get delivered I just don't trust that because the last time the told me that they are going to do a second delivery they sent all my package back. They are *** ***.

UPS in Tamarac, Florida - They can't even wait two minutes

I heard a knock on my door so as i got up to answer, I hear the package being thrown over my gate and the driver was already leaving. Couldn't he wait 2 minutes until i opened the gate for him. He broke the package and as he was leaving gave me a face as if i was taking 20 minutes to open the door. I didn't know it was that big of a deal to wait under 5 minutes for someone to ope the door. On top of everything the package delivered broke so now I have to return it.

2 mins or 5? either way....

no.

if he was able to driver release it why waste time waiting. However throwing it over a gate is unacceptable

If the driver knocked on your door, how was there a gate to throw your package over? He would have had your package with him at the door, and would have been able to just set it down.

Drivers have more than 250 individual addresses to deliver to each day. Waiting 2 min per stop is 500 min, which means they are spending most of their day waiting around.

The drivers do not have 2 min per stop to wait.

Update by user Nov 18, 2013

An update to this. UPS contacted the shipping agent who told them a month ago to abandon the shipment, despite it being our property.

since then we've had an update. UPS returned one missing item 24 hours after I told them I would be pressing criminal charges against...

You had how much weight in boxes inside the chests?

Those are cheap units you buy and put together at home.

They were nver designed or intended to be moved when full of contents.

UPS in Austin, Texas - NO delivery, now I have to wait until MONDAY...?

UPS - the ABSOLUTELY Worst shipping company in existence. I had ordered an Amazon product to be delivered on Friday. Their "logistics" said it was "out for delivery" on Friday at 4 AM. But Friday night when the UPS delivery man came, there was nothing. Luckily he had stopped by my neighbor and I came out to greet him. He said he had nothing for me, but to call their Dispatch. So I did. they Indicated my package was on ANOTHER truck, and called me back to say the Driver would drive out to me to deliver the package on Friday night. The Driver NEVER delivered the package...so I called UPS customer service this morning... their response? "I'm Sorry, the package is locked on a trailer and since, the package wasn't marked for Saturday delivery, it will be delivered on MONDAY." Of course the fact that it was UPS who had an issue and made a delivery mistake meant nothing. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

You should contact Amazon and complain. If the delivery was, in fact guaranteed for Friday they will attempt to assuage your anger with them.

Amazon is pretty good about customer complaints. They also need to know when one of their delivery methods fails.

UPS in Kingsport, Tennessee - Driver leaves packages on top of garbage can and also outside back door instead of sheltered front porch, even when requested to do so!

I have called the local UPS facility, and they promised me that this would NEVER happen again! They lied. Every single time UPS delivers to me (IF they do!) They leave packages damaged, in the rain, and sometimes say they tried to deliver, but never even came to my home! I have cameras posted all over my property, and NO UPS Vehicle was there! They also have left a package on top of my garbage can! It was a medical package, therefore I can assume that all drivers are taught to *** the customer off and who cares about the packages. UPS should change it's name meaning to Unprofessional Package Service! I have called corporate about this, and they had a security person from UPS call me, and he then threatened me! In my opinion UPS should be out of business, and I recommend to all to either use USPS or FedEx ... at least they care about their service! UPS drivers are a disgrace, and the corporate entity is very UNAmerican and rude to it's paying customers whom pay their checks!

UPS has customers pay $45 plus for a Saturday delivery. They had no issue taking the money from the poor customer - and therefore, they should have no issue giving a refund for their lack of reliability.

Otherwise do not offer the service. I agree with the person who commented UPS drivers know the hours of the local UPS stores, they should and they do.

What a crock to say the package was delivered before the store opened and they are not responsible for the non-delivery of the pacakge...

I would expect more from a multi-billion dollar company. The lesson is to next time use a different shipping service.

UPS in Baldwin, New York - Liars and passive aggressive

If the drivers go out of the way to be *** then we ought to have the option of picking up at local UPS store or post office. We all know that the drivers are responsible for losses but what *** would leave a package on the bottom step just off the sidewalk when there is a sheltered, protected, out of view spot adjacent to the front door. They lie about delivery attempts. They are too lazy to use the knocker or doorbell. They think redelivery of perishables on the third day is acceptable practice. One package went missing post-Sandy to a tenant and now everyone at the address must suffer for years to come? And when you call to speak to supervisor they have no direct line and call back on telephone numbers that no longer ring at this address. UPS you stink.

You do have an option to pick up, if you have a box at the ups store. They do not deliver to the post office so....thats like wanting Mobile gas at a Sunoco.

And yes 1 theft ruins it for everyone, why should the driver have to pay for your claim if your package is stolen??

Why should the company have to pay if your package is stolen? Makes sense to get a signature

@reasonable process

Not sure who "reasonable process" is, but he should change his name to "lying liar who loves to lie"

UPS DOES deliver to the post office. They just did that to me yesterday. The ironic thing is if the sender had sent it USPS it would have arrived in 3 days instead of the 9 it took UPS to get it to my post office.

On UPS' facebook page they state the drivers are responsible. So either you or UPS is lying. I think probably both. If UPS spent more time trying to deliver packages and less time running around badmouthing irritated customers, they wouldnt have problems like this.

other means a million different things, it could mean deck, side door, under the mat, in a paper box, under the grill cover but it definitly doesn't mean a signature was received. If a signature was received it would say signature rec'd.

Usually they would have sent the driver back to the house that day, this time of year there is seasonal help, its possible they del.

to a neighbor, sending them back that day helps resolve the issue better then 9 days later. And fyi the 9 days isnt when the tracer was opened, that was the next day, it remains opened for 9days.
