UPS Delivery - worst service, company

I was waiting for a very important piece of document from my bank and I was informed that it would arrive before 3:30 pm the next day. At about 10:30 am, I heard a short door bell and before I got to the door (about a minute or so), the UPS guy had stuck a InfoNotice and was gone. I called the number on the back of the notice and they told me it was going to be delivered the following day. I told them that it was not right that the delivery guy was gone in a minute or less and I was willing to pick it up anywhere. They told me someone from the warehouse was going to call within the hour. I waited two hours before I call the number again. They told me that letter would be waiting for me after 7 pm but they cannot give me anymore details. I asked to speak to a manager (Angela employee ID UTA2817). This is what she told me. She kept using the word protocol and it appeared that she had no idea what it meant 1) UPS does not have a protocol to handle complaints that do not fit into specific categories. Apparently, mine was one of them 2) My issue was related to internal departments and their protocol does not allow them to accept my complaint 3) She was the first level supervisor and there was no one else that was available to take my complaint or hear me out. I asked her how did she know they were not available while she was talking to me all the time. She said she made an educated guess. I don't know where she was "educated" but it appears it must be the UPS Supervisor Training she received coming through. 4) When asked if I can have the phone number of their corporate site so I can submit my complaint, she said she does not access to it. I have had similar problems with UPS before. So I am going to ask all my clients to avoid UPS in the future. This is a company on its way out.

One minute is a very long time to answer the door. Maybe if you would have made the effort to hurry even slightly to the door you would have your package.

Think about it... drivers don't have time to wait minutes at each house, especially since most people work during the day.

UPS in Calgary, Alberta - Terrible Service - Worst Shipping Company Ever!

Someone overseas ordered something for me for Christmas from the US in plenty of time to reach me before Christmas. They sent me the tracking info and was supposed to be delivered by December 23rd. It had a scan that told me on their online tracking system that it would be delivered that day. Waited all day and evening, nothing came. Called them, they assured me it would be delivered the next day. Since this is a gift from one of my dear friends, I waited all day again since the tracking info online said it would be delivered on the 24th and it was delayed. Nothing again. Called them again, they didn't know why it wasn't delivered but they were certain it would be delivered on the 27th. Nothing on the 27th either. Called again, someone finally sent a message to the Calgary center and someone named Amanda called me and told me she was trying to page the driver to look for it on his truck and she would call me when she hears from him. Never called me back and there was no way for me to call her back. Now it is over two weeks and still nothing but they are now telling me they still have thousands of parcels from Christmas still being delivered. That makes no sense to me at all. My friend contacted the company she purchased from, they sent another package to her address in Calgary. It was shipped on January 2nd and received on January 3rd. Don't know who to believe anymore - seems like all their customer service agents are trained to lie as much as possible, make up stories. TWO WEEKS UPS - What is wrong with you. Maybe you should hire Canada Post to deliver the backlog for you since you obviously can't handle it.

UPS in Calgary, Alberta - Brokerage fee

I am in Calgary, Canada and ordered laptop from US. UPS made 3 attempts to deliver the laptop in the middle of the day when I was at work. One would expect they will try different time slots if failed the first two times. When they finally delivered it my wife paid the brokerage fee with a credit card. They did not use a card reader but wrote down the card information. Two months later I got a phone call saying I was still owing the brokerage fee and if I would not pay promptly I would be given to a money collection company. I called immediately and paid. It turned out the credit card was declined probably because they wrote down wrong numbers. The disturbing thing is that for two months nobody contacted me to tell me there was a problem with the credit card. Instead I got the nasty message 2 months later. Not cool. UPS is the worst shipping company I ever dealt with. Period.

Addition UPS Charge

I too shipped a package to our daughter and son in law in Lubbock Tx. I calculated the dimensions, went to UPS' web site and printed off a label. The total shipping came to $32.30 which I charged to my Amex card. When I checked my card and got the charges, UPS added an additional $16.47. At first I did not recognize the charge because the tracking and reference #'s were non UPS standard. After searching the internet and stumbling on this blog, I realized this additional charge came from UPS. I contacted them and they told me my package had been randomly selected for audit and that the measurements I declared when I printed the shipping label were incorrect and that the size of the package demanded a higher shipping charge. I asked what the dimensions were that they calculated in their audit and it turns out I was 1" different in my measurement to theirs. So they charged my card 50% more. I questioned this and got the entire $16.47 credited. I was also "scolded" by the rep who proceeded to explain their atomic calculation for packages and dimensions and weights which the average person would have a hard time understanding. I suggested to the rep that UPS is opening themselves up for a law suit by arbitrarily charging people's cards after the fact. This did not seem to matter. My suggestion to everyone...... check UPS charges carefully. My charges came from UPS ADD CHARGES-US. If you see something odd that you did not authorize, challenge the company. Don't just accept it.

So you tried to cheat the system and steal from ups, when you got caught ups billed for the correct amount and you respond by crying and throwing a tantrum. Ups is kind enough to forego the correct amount and you respond to that kindness by complaining on the internet.

I guess no good deed goes unpunished.

Way to be accountable for being a thief.

Anonymous: You MUST work for UPS, who has gone so far downhill it's unbelievable. And 50% more for a measly 1" difference?

Get a friggin' LIFE. :cry

@Anna Rexia

Try using google...search for the term "dimensional weight" then go to any carrier's website and search for the same term. Notice that all carriers have a dimensional weight component to pricing? Nifty, right? Yes...ALL CARRIERS. Yes, 1 inch can make a difference, there has to be a cutoff somewhere, just like your home scale wont go past 250, more than that, like you, it stops using that scale.

If you cant manage to figure out the complex maths and numbers thingies, feel free to guess what the price will be, and pay the difference when you get caught cheating.

Oy my gosh, thieves blaming their victims, now ive seen it all.

I just got my second Audited Dimensions charge and I double checked the measurements this time . I think its time I quit using UPS. This smells like a scam to me.

Sniffles.....not sure where you are coming from with your comments. I am a Service Provider.

Where a person decides to live does not play into how their package is delivered. It makes no difference. The consignee, not the customer BTW, said that they had a long driveway and the driver left the package 20 feet from the front door, in a delivery bag. So, it appears that there Service Provider did what they were trained to do by bagging it if the weather dictated, but failed to leave the package at the front door where they should have.

We all go through at least annual driver release certification as Service Providers and this obviously did not meet proper driver release criteria.

I guess I am old school as I would never make a driver release delivery like the consignee described.

UPS - 2nd Day Delivery? Didn't happen!

Sent a package on Thurs, Jan 2, 2014. It was supposed to have a Sat. delivery going from Virginia to AL. When checking on the tracking, it went to Doraville, GA then to Nashville, TN. Said it was in transit and on time, delivery was on schedule. Sat. came, package didn't arrive. Checked today, it's in Louisville, KY!!! Guess they don't know where AL is located. When it was in Doraville and even when it was in Nashville, it was at the most within 3 hours of its destination!! My husband called and got the run around and was told that it would arrive tomorrow. My husband asked about reimbursement and was told we'd just have to wait. Doubt if we'll see reimbursement! Sent two other packages to AL that weren't 2nd day delivery on the same day at the same time (Jan 2), and they arrived Mon (Jan 6)....So much for 2nd day being faster! Will never use UPS again.

UPS Worst Shipping Company EVER

First off, UPS lost my Package, the shipper had to call them so that they could find it. My package has been in calgary since December 20th and I have yet to receive it (it is now January 06, 2014) and still no package. On several occassions I stayed home (missed work) to receive my package and never received, even though their online system it said that there were attempts made; but my apartment unit was never buzzed and I was at home during all of those "attempts". I understand that they are busy during this christmas season but this is very unacceptable. I should have received this package 2 weeks ago. I called the Customer Service line on numerous occassions they reasshured me that my package would be delivered many times but, still no package. They always tell me that they would follow up but never received any phone calls. Very unreliable, untrustworthy and very mean!!

UPS in Winchester, Virginia - NEXT DAY DELIVERY TOOK 4 DAYS

I paid $62.00 to have a small package sent for next day delivery. That was on a Thursday morning. I understand there was bad weather on Friday so I had no problem with a day delay. The tracking said it arrived on the UPS station (about 10 miles away from delivery) on a Saturday morning. However, it was not delivered until 10:45 on Monday. Meanwhile…… the people I had sent the package to sent me a package on the same day through the post office. They paid $5.20 to mail it and I received it on that Saturday. What a disgrace. Send your packages through the post office.

So then you should get the difference back between Next day and 2nd day since it was 2 business days, but yeah unless you pay for Saturday delivery it goes to the next business day which is Monday. The post office has no such issues regarding Saturday delivery, until they decide to stop Saturday delivery altogether.

If there was a weather issue on Friday, Monday was the next business day. Why is that so difficult to understand?

Anonymous
#769836
@common sense

Not hard to understand. What is hard to understand is why something mailed on the same day from the post office only cost 5.20 and was delivered on Saturday.

Why use UPS if the post office can do it better and cheaper?

@APHG2000

I see, so when something isn't guaranteed, has no value coverage, has no tracking and can't be rerouted once shipped, that makes it better.

Oh, you mean the price was less? Yeah, funny when you don't ask for those extra services, or don't need them, the price is less.

Btw a yugo costs less than a cadillac as well. Of course it will still haul your fat carcass across town, just the same.

UPS in Toronto, Ontario - Lost package - but worse, appalling customer service

I shipped a package from my home in New Jersey to my son in New York, then went on a trip to Canada. The package disappeared. When I called UPS, the one number they provide decides, based on your location, whether you speak to a U.S. or Canada rep. I was - without notification or choice - routed to the Canadian reps. I waited on hold for 45 minutes to find out that I had been routed to the wrong country. Another 40 minutes or so of hold was required for me to talk to the U.S. rep, who then put me on hold for about 30 minutes with the tracing department, who sent me for more than 50 minutes of hold with the investigations department. When I got disconnected and had to start again. I TRIED CALLING FIVE TIMES WITH THIS SAME RESULT AND SIMILAR HOLD TIMES. In addition, on the most recent call, the agent lied to me, promising I wouldn't get placed on hold again. Thirty minutes of hold later..... Note on value of loss: I include loss of package, cost of shipping, and cost of cell phone time. I understand packages will periodically be lost. There is no excuse for customer service reps who lie, and there is absolutely no excuse for a phone system that redirects your call to another country without notification or options.
