Customer Service and UPS Reps are terrible.

I've been fighting with UPS since March. They too were charging us more than was stated on our software. I informed my rep that I would not pay ( just over $3,000) the bill until the credit was received. He came to our business, agreed it was their mistake and told me he'd take care of it...never did. I called him several times and informed him I haven't paid the bill and another had arrived. I got another UPS rep involved and he finally straightened it out, but I was set back 3 months of bills which totaled just over eight thousand. Since then I paid all but June and July and have been cut off, without service for our business. Had the rep done his job I would not be in this predicament. 95% of our work comes in in a box and leaves in a box. I feel UPS is only in it for the money and service has gone down hill. I don't have a problem with making a profit, but don't gouge me. FedEx is looking mighty good!

UPS in Lancaster, Kentucky - No care taken with fragile package

Recently my husband passed away and the funeral home sent me a 16x20 photo of him clearly marked. Handle with care Fragile. It was thrown on the porch floor during a rain with my lab dogs lying on The porch. Luckily it didn't get ruined but it could have. They could have rung the doorbell, put it in a chair, blowed the horn or something but they didn't. Everyone in this area complains but it doesn't help. They leave one persons mail order diabetes meds on a lawn mower near the road, they leave packages at the wrong house etc.

UPS made delivering a package pure ***.

Below is the letter I just sent off to UPS about their so called service after I had had three discussions over live chat regarding one package. It is out for final delivery today, and I know it won't be left at the delivery location. I only hope that the request to hold the package actually happens, but I don't have much faith. To whom it may concern: I have had the worst time trying to find a way to contact you without jumping through hoops. This email is in regards to package number ******************. I would just like to let you know that you are the worst shipping service I have ever used. I was given an address for a person to ship an item to. I used three different carriers to send items to this person, and yours was the only carrier I have ever had a problem with. The first issue came when your service claimed I had put in the wrong address. The funny thing is, both the USPS and FedEx were able to find and deliver to the address just fine. I must have had a valid address if they were able to find it. Why couldn't you? The second issue is that the driver refused to leave the package at the delivery location. I inquired through your online chat system whether he could just leave the package there and if notices were being left. The first question was never answered and the second question was met with a yes. So apparently notice was left, however, when I asked my recipient about notices, he said he never got one. Who am I to believe here? The guy who wants his package or the incompetent company that can't seem to find his address? I even requested that the driver just leave the package there, and I was told it was "driver's discretion" and that would not be happening despite the fact that no signature was required. So now we are on our third delivery attempt. I contacted your live chat service to make sure that if the package was not received, it would be held at the nearest UPS location. I was given the answer that the package would be delivered today. I had to fight to ensure that the package would be held at the UPS location. How insane is that? I should not have to fight you to get a package held. I was once again blamed for not providing the correct address (fixed two chats ago and also the address that I was provided) and that was used as a method to try to avoid filing a formal complaint and avoid providing me proper service. If you couldn't tell from above or skipped to the last paragraph before pushing the delete button on this message, I just want you to know that the above has made me angry. I have lost all faith in your system. I will avoid your company at all costs, and I will be spreading the word about this. My friends, my family and the internet at large will know about this. Thanks for at least opening this before it gets deleted. [My Name]

UPS - Lost Shipments and Billing Charges

1- Billing Charges. Using THEIR shipping software our company inputs the information for the shipping and the program prints out a shipping label and gives us our cost for that package to be shipped. When the billing came the charges were usually more than what their software would state our cost was at the time it was generated. Just a note---Software updates for the program were almost done daily for shipping rates and was automatic from UPS directly. In fact one shipment we sent their software said it would cost 47.85 to ship the package. we received a bill for 99.95 for that shipment. Ups had no reply that was reasonable for the difference in charges. Most of the billing would always have extra fee's for address changes made etc.. which were completely bogus added on fee's. 2-Mis shipped packages. There are many events we experience but the one that takes the cake--- We shipped a package (locally) should take 1 day. A week later, after tracking the package, we realized they had shipped our package clear across the United States. We are on the west coast and they shipped it to a company on the east coast. A call was made to UPS. They stated and I quote "they made three attempts to deliver the package to the address we provided, after those three attempts they tried to figure out where we actually meant to ship the package." Now that is a direct quote. So I guess UPS is now in the mind reading business and decides on their own accord on where they think we meant to actually have the package sent. Absurd! You would figure, now maybe I am just crazy here, if they made three attempts and could not get the package delivered someone, smart enough or sensible enough, would have shipped the package "return to sender." Not - lets send it clear across the country and give it to someone we think they meant to give to. That package had a value of $1200.00- and it took us an addition 2 weeks to get that package back. When we did- The product was broken- UPS Reply was unacceptable. Needless to say our company no longer deals with UPS- We switched to Federal Express and the USPS services. So far after 6 months we have had not one package lost, delivery is on time, and the charges that both USPS and Federal express state at time of shipping is exactly what we are billed for. Bye! Bye! Brown- you will not be ripping us off anymore!

Usually when we hear complaints about "being overcharged," people have initially put the incorrect dimensions or weight into the system and thus are originally given a much lower price than it actually costs. For example, let's say you have a 18"x 18"x 18" box, that has an actual weight of 70.01 pounds.

Once folded and sealed, its dimensions are going to be at least 19"x 19"x 19", and maybe more depending if the package is bulging anywhere. Also, UPS always rounds up, so a 70.01 pound package gets the weight of 71 pounds, not 70 pounds.

Other, smaller changes in price might arise from a destination being marked as a business when it is in fact a residence. Hope this helps.

UPS charging me for their accounting error!

Earlier this year, I created a UPS account to ship an one item on eBay. That was the only time I used this account. Then, two months later, I received a strange strange package in the mail that was obviously not intended for me — some weird promotional clock from TD Bank. Soon, a charge for this transaction showed up on my account. I learned later that UPS had a problem delivering the package to the intended recipient in New Jersey, so they billed the account number on the transaction. The problem was UPS gave me an old account, which used to belong to TD Bank, and TD Bank continued to use this account to ship their promo items. Then UPS sent me the bill. After many emails and calls (infinite loop between customer service and call agents), and UPS "supervisors" assuring me that my account had been canceled and I would not be charged... they sent me more bills! So, I call UPS and talk to another agent who tells me that indeed I have to pay the charges, and transfer to another "supervisor", who then reassures me that I don't have to pay the charges and everything has been taken care of. Here is the explanation I received from UPS: "At one point your account # was assigned to TD Bank. They set up an account in 2010 and assigned it to a user in their shipping system. The user never shipped and because they did not use the account it was cancelled by UPS on our end and recycled. At that point it was then assigned to you. The user for TD Bank did not realize we had cancelled the account and it was already established in the Banks system. Because of this she was able to process a label to ship. The package was shipped and refused and when a package is refused we look it up in our system and send back to the account owner of record in our system. That is why it came back to you and not the TD Bank user. The administrator for TD Bank has deleted the user and your account number from their system so this should never happen again. I apologize and you should feel safe. I have been with UPS for 34 years and this is the first time I have seen this happen" Three months after receiving this email, UPS continues to send me bills for this erroneous transaction! I am sick of it. They apologized but never fixed problem. I cannot trust them anymore. I am worried that this will affect my credit rating or worse. How can I be sure it will not happen again?

UPS in Burnaby, British Columbia - Delivery guy claimed an attempted delivery

I sat home all day waiting for my package. Delivery was not attempted and the package was sent to an access point. To top things off, obviously a customer service does not exist and there is absolutely no one to complain to. The 1-800 number is useless and only has automated responses. *** you UPS I sat home all day waiting for my package. Delivery was not attempted and the package was sent to an access point. Whoever is shipping can usually pay less than $2 more to have it guaranteed there by the morning, so take it up with them, not UPS.

UPS in Washington, District Of Columbia - Outrageous Customs brokerage Fees

I had forgotten a laptop while visiting a friend in Canada and had it shipped by my friend from Canada to the US. Was told it would cost about $40, including purchased insurance. What they didnt disclose was that upon delivery, the receiver (i.e., me) would have to pay additional money for what is called customs brokerage fees. My used 3-yr old laptop is probably not worth more than $75, but I had to pay $56 to the UPS delivery guy. Beware of UPS! I have had parcels from Hong Kong received here in the US without and fees required to be paid. UPS is a rip-off!
