UPS in Palos Hills, Illinois - Worst customer service experience ever

I have just had the worst experience with UPS and hope that you will discontinue use of this company. I was not notified that a painting had to be signed for, therefore I was not home when UPS attempted delivery. I then spent over 2 hours on the phone with them, as the notice stated that they would not re-attempt delivery until Monday. I told them how important it was that the painting not be in the freezing cold for 3 days, to no avail. They would not consider how to make this delivery happen even tomorrow. I am now paying for a truck and person to pick this up at UPS tomorrow since they will not deliver it until Monday, and the package is too large to fit in my car. There should be no shipping fee incurred by the shipper. I should have been called when the driver attempted delivery. This company is incompetent and has no regard for customer service. I am so incredibly disappointed.

The fact that you didn't know that the painting had to be signed for is the fault of the shipper, not UPS. Also, if it was a very valuable painting, UPS does not leave high value items at the door for liability reasons.

As for not delivering until Monday, UPS only delivers on business days, unless extra money is paid fro Saturday. The only exception I have ever seen is when they were late delivering a package on a Friday (as in the package wasn't even attempted to be delivered), so they did end up delivering it on Saturday. However, in the case of a package for which no one was home to sign for it, UPS has not done anything wrong and would proceed to attempt deliver only on the next business day, which would be Monday.

As for calling you when the driver attempted to deliver, at this time of year, it isn't uncommon for a driver to have well over 200 stops on any given day.

Simply put, they do not have time to call a person if they're not home, and they definitely don't have time to wait for that person to show up. My suggestion to you would be to choose different options for delivery next time. If you're expecting an important package that you know you will not be home for, then you can tell the shipper to choose the option of "shipper release," which means UPS will just leave it at the door (this option isn't available for items declared at $900 or above though). Another way around it is to have your package sent to your place of business, or another location where there will be someone to sign for it, and that you can later pick it up at your own leisure.

Private mailboxes are a good option if you're having issues as well.

UPS Sucks and it sounds like you work for them.. I had same issues they will not even give you a window less that all day.. and customer service do even care..

UPS - Driver Lied

Details
Paid for 2-day shipping for holiday cards to send clients. Waited all day for delivery. Checked on status..."out for delivery" since 4:23AM. At 3:39PM the status update to indicate delivery was attempted but the business was closed. Huh, I was sitting here starring at the front door all afternoon. Should have been off doing holiday errands, but sat here fuming at UPS for lying. Can't talk to anyone local, the people at central number claim all they can do is send a message to the local customer center and they will call back in an hour. Driver showed up with the package 55 minutes after I called. Said not a word to me. I asked sternly, but as politely as I could, "Did they tell you I'm not happy?" To which he replied "neither am I." Seriously???? What, not happy you got caught lying? I told him next time don't lie about the office being closed, this time less politely and he shot back "I didn't lie!" I am telling Cards Direct that if they are using UPS next year, we are not using Cards Direct.

As far as the package being "out for delivery" since early in the morning; that's when it gets loaded on the truck for delivery, so that isn't actually incorrect. Beyond that, I'm confused.

Were you at a business, or at home?

It sounds like you may have been at an apartment complex and the driver attempted delivery to the office, which may have been closed. At least in my town, the offices in a lot of complexes will close while they're out giving tours, or they'll go on break or something like that.

I ordered an expedited gift card from my company reward system so I could get Christmas presents for my kids. Should have been delivered on 12/12/14. The package made it to the nearest UPS facility then disappeared. I submitted a request for an investigation on 12/18 to be told it takes 8 business days (this will be after Christmas). Thanks UPS.

Ups do not respect their own schedule. If they programade delivery after 5.00 pm they appears at 11. Am. This is no a serious company. No way UPS. Never more. Customer service is awful.

First of all.I get packages thru UPS very often.And I have never at anytime got to choose the time of deliver for my packages to be delivered.I am always informed that the delivery will be between 8AM-8PM.I am so sure that you are aware that these delivery people are on a schedule to deliver as many packages as possible.Please remember that know one is on your schedule but you.Maybe you can go and Pick up your own package and Leave other people along about your own problems.WTF.

Light in the Box & UPS unfair company policy

Don't order with this company! Light in the Box is NOT transparent by telling "no delivery costs" Truth is that delivery companies like UPS will charge you at delivery at your front door. My UPS bill was 38,09€ !!!! for a Light in the Box order of 75,69€. Custums clearens was only 7,98€. UPS charged me 30€ for things like; advanced tax, complex entry??                                                                               Come on, I get delivery's from HongKong lots of times but never these high amounts?  Light in the Box are ok by this because this way the prices on there website are low! Shame shame on both of them!

UPS - Huge Backlog of TVs to be delivered

Relax about the "delay" with UPS. With big TV sets, they are delivered by private courier and not by UPS. I had the same issue with my TV set shown as being in Oklahoma City for 5 days and its not being delivered, and I had the same concerns. However, the set was delivered...eventually. The courier said that there are warehouses full of TV sets to be delivered in the area and that there is not enough couriers to do the deliveries. That said, you probably have the same circumstances in your area too. Lots of TVs being sold via the 'net.

UPS steals item

We tried to send a cell phone to our son in order for him to travel home. His phone died. UPS was supposed to deliver it within 48 hrs. No attempt was made. My husband contacted UPS 5 days later, they said they tried to deliver it the day before but he was not there. This is a dorm with someone at the desk 24/7, there was no slip. They said they will attempt again in 2 days. Since he was flying out that day, my husband told them to send it back and they agreed. 10 days later, they called and said we needed to pay $70 to ship it back because my son refused delivery because he did not want to pay a Customs charge. He was not even in the country on the date in question. He was home. Very sleazy behavior, we are still trying to get the cell phone back.

UPS - The customer service at this place is completely idiotic.

Brittany M.: You can contact us directly at 1-800-742-5877 regarding the investigation This is just ***. They lost my package, and it has been *** trying to get the original package back, and my money spent for services not rendered. I call the 1-800 #, and am told they can't help. I contact the helpdesk online, they can't help. Who can? This is just silly at this point, and the fact that i have to resort to bad mouthing is sort of childish. Otherwise, nobody pays attention.
