UPS in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina - No Delivery or Ability to pick up a package on weekends

1.7
Details
So I order a birthday gift for my son. It's delivered on Friday, but I'm at work, so I figure they will deliver it on Saturday or I can call and pick it up at the UPS store. I come to find out, they don't deliver on Saturday and the UPS location is closed ALL WEEKEND. The United States government has better customer service with the United States Postal Service. I call to see if they can ship it to a UPS store that is open late, and they will only ship it to a certain few stores that are very inconvenient. The lack of competition is similar to the airline industry. No customer service and a horrible business model. As much money as they spend on advertising, maybe they should alert the general public about how they don't deliver on Saturdays.

They do deliver on weekends, it is just for an additional fee. Also, there is a free service option of "shipper release" if you know you will not be home to sign for a delivery.

UPS - Review from Hagerstown, Maryland

Had an issue where the driver just dropped our package in front of our door (not once but twice) didn't bother knocking like he normally does. Luckily for us one of the maintenance men told me that the package was in front of the door otherwise we may not have known or it may have been stolen. Both times I called UPS about it they didn't do anything except claim they'd talk to the driver. I'm like well apparently talking doesn't work.

Problems with UPS

always problems with UPS; was out when the parcel arrived. Note thru the door states that parcel was left at TSM or TSU Stores ( very poor writing ). "Go to www.ups.com for location point"; this says the parcel was delivered to a completely different address. Where do I go now ?? What do I do to get my parcel ? This doesn't send unless 100 words - what rubbish is this ? How much more frustration must I be confronted with? Not 100 words yet - what do I write now ? I can only think of swear words or abuse. In future, I will insist that my suppliers use DHL; we appear never to have any problems with them.

Ups Home Delivery Review from Sacramento, California

This is the SECOND time in a month that UPS has cost my money by not delivering their packages on time. First time: I ordered a lovely chocolate-covered strawberries basket for my dad for his birthday and they were unable to deliver "due to storms in the area" - I was there and there wasn't even rain. The strawberries showed up 3 days later moldy and with bugs. I got a 50% refund from the seller but nothing from UPS not even an apology. Second time: I ordered a 3-day juice cleanse. As the juices need to stay fresh I paid $75 for overnight shipping. This time UPS actually told me they "forgot" the box in their warehouse when going out for delivery and when I offered to drive to the warehouse to pick it up they said no. I am still working on getting a refund as the juices will be bad by the time I receive them. I will go out of my way to use alternate shipping methods and will not purchase items online that are shipped through UPS. After these 2 experiences, with UPS taking no responsibility whatsoever I will boycott them and tell everyone I know to do the same.

UPS Inacuracy of shipments

First of all, UPS truck drivers are some of the most dangerous on the roads; speeding, changing lanes without signaling and running red lights is a normal occurrence where I live. Secondly, all pkgs are moved and tracked by bar codes and fancy gadgets, right? So why is it, the last 2 packages made it within 40 miles of my home, only to be shipped out to another state before coming back and being delivered to me? I live in So. Cali., pkg made it to Palm Springs and was then shipped to Kentucky? How the heck did that happen? When I got online and chatter with a Rep, I was informed that the pkg was on a truck and couldn't be tracked at the moment and the scheduled delivery dated has been updated. Updated, not delayed because of their errors. They "updated" 2 or 3 times before marking it simply "delayed" and removed expected delivery date altogether. UPS used to be reliable, but I don't think so anymore. If you want your package, and want a geography lesson while tracking, you will love UPS, otherwise, hold your breath and just hope it arrives. Oh, and the Rep told me......if it doesn't arrive, there is nothing you can do, the shipper must file the claim; so not sure how you get your refund or how long you must wait!!

UPS in La Vernia, Texas - Don't care about their customers AT ALL

Update by user Sep 11, 2015

After my FIFTH contact with UPS, I got an e-mail saying this: "Our records indicate the reason for the delay in your package was due to it being left behind at one of our locations. Unfortunately, the package has not arrived to the final facility.

Therefore, it is still traveling in a locked container. Air packages are loaded and transported in air containers, and are not accessible during transit. Therefore, the personal at the facility will not be able to access to this package until..."

The key words here being, "it is still traveling in a locked container." Could someone please tell me why is took THIRTY-SIX hours for someone to explain to me WHY they couldn't get the package to me faster? Especially since I asked every single person I contacted at UPS WHY there was "no way" (as they all said) they could get the package to me before their rescheduled delivery date of the day AFTER I was supposed to get it.

I'm assuming this means the whole container was left behind. At least I HOPE that's the case and not that my single package was left behind and then someone randomly decided it was OK for it to wait another 24 hours for delivery. Of course, even if it was the whole container, it's still completely unacceptable, and customer service was BEYOND unacceptable in their lack of help explaining the situation.

UPS needs to get it together. But it doesn't matter to me anymore because I will never willingly use them again.

I see I'm not the only one who is fed up with UPS "customer service." I work from home and get a LOT of packages shipped to me. Granted, most make it on time no matter which company they're shipped through. My problem is that when something goes wrong, as it did last night when UPS left my package at the KY sorting facility instead of getting it on the plane to TX like they were supposed to (it is a PRIORITY overnight package), UPS all around takes an attitude of "Oh well. Too bad. It'll be there at the expected delivery time TOMORROW." Excuse me?? What exactly does "PRIORITY" mean UPS? Do you know? And "Overnight" as well. Shall I ship you guys a dictionary? (I'll send it UPS and you can wait until *** freezes over for it to get to you.) Because NO ONE at UPS acts like they give a *** that their mistake adds 24 hours onto my delivery time. I asked a chat rep today if he's telling me there's only ONE plane from their KY facility into TX every day...because that sounds unlikely to me. And if there's more than one plane to TX every day, then MY PACKAGE SHOULD HAVE BEEN PUT ON THE VERY NEXT PLANE. But clearly it wasn't, because it's STILL in KY. What really burns me up is the combination of their lazy attitude about their mistakes, being so casual about leaving a package at a facility instead as if it's no big deal, no need to hurry (hey, at least PRETEND you're hurrying to fix your mistake!!) combined with the lack of information given by CS. The first three people I contacted about this didn't tell me anything more than I was able to get all by myself on the website. Does UPS seriously think I'm going to e-mail, call (and request a supervisor on the call, only to be put on hold for 30 minutes!!!! At which point I of course hung up, which is I'm sure what they wanted all along), and contact chat if that's all the information I wanted?? Like I've got nothing better to do with my time! Seriously, this infuriates me. Like another reviewer on here, I'm also sick of having screaming matches with the voice recognition program on their customer service phone line. So many times, if I wasn't already steaming mad when I first called, I sure was by the time I got that idiotic system to give me to a human being! I've already made arrangements with Amazon to ship my packages from them SOLELY with FedEx (and Amazon CS was the exact opposite experience; very friendly, very accommodating, and concerned about delays in my shipments from them via UPS). I am henceforth demanding that of everyone I do business with as well as my own work clients. I get dozens of packages a week, so that's a lot of business heading FedEx's way. All because the people at UPS can't bother to even *pretend* to care about the urgency of shipments when, ironically, that's EXACTLY WHAT THEIR BUSINESS IS ALL ABOUT.
