I have never been a fan of UPS

1.0
Details
I have shipped 1000-1500 packages annually for the past 9 years. I have never been a fan of UPS, and the list of reason grows. First, my husband received shipment of a boat prop that looked like it had been delivered by a parachute with *** in it. UPS was clearly at fault, and they refused to honor their "insurance". Over the years, I have tried to use the local UPS Store. When I call for rates, I give them measurements and weights, yet the actual price always ends up higher than what they quote over the phone. I have tried using the UPS website with about 85% success because some technicality in how the form is filled out will stop me from completing the process. Occasionally, one of my customers will choose UPS, and I will always try to switch it (and usually save money doing it). Finally, a man contacted me (who knew my husband), and he said he represented a shipping service and wanted to compare pricing in order to win my business. I gave him my shipping records (mostly USPS and some FedEx). Several weeks later, he sheepishly told me that they could not compete with the pricing that I was already getting. He then revealed that he represents UPS. Well I could have told him as much.

This happened to me as well! I shipped a bunch of my belongings back home and when I opened my box I noticed a few items were missing including my Apple TV and a bunch of other electronics! I am horrified that such disgusting thieves are employed with a company that we are supposed to have faith in when it comes to delivering things that we PAY to get delivered. I hope the person gets good use out of my things because when karma gets them I hope it'll get them hard. I never wish ill on people but some people are just disgusting, whoever raised these people did a horrible job of doing so.

UPS in Knightdale, North Carolina - Consistently bad service for over a decade

I've had UPS lose packages I've sent, or deliver things late since the first time I used them, in 2000. My most recent experience was with an Amazon order, they claimed to have attempted to deliver when they didn't (we were at home all day). They then promised to do it the next day, but didn't. About one out of every four or five orders I have delivered via UPS from Amazon have a similar problem. I'm not sure why they keep using them, I understand it may be cheaper, but if you keep having orders canceled or having to give months of free Prime membership due to their incompetence, is it really worth it? Not to mention that this makes me want to shop elsewhere.

I'm writing this to complain about UPS Delivery. I've dealt with several companies who use UPS for their shipment preference & I've had nothing but delivery issues with UPS. I complain to customer service and the manager and it doesn't get me anywhere.

UPS - Lazy and carelss service

UPS consistently disappoints me. Last year they left a very expensive item in a badly damaged box - that should have required a signature - on the front porch. They just changed the shipping form to say it didn't need a signature and left it for someone to steal. I would not have accepted delivery on electronics in a badly damaged box to begin with, and I'm pretty sure they knew that. This time they left my item sitting outside the garage because they were too lazy to put it on the covered front porch - or to bother ringing the door bell. It was about to start raining and instead of taking 30 seconds to put it where it might be sheltered, or at least ring the bell and say the item was by the garage, they just dumped it and left. The garage can't be seen from anywhere in the house so the package sat outside all night in the rain. Totally soaked when we found it this morning. There is no outer box on this item. It's just in the product's box like you'd find it in the store. The water damaged box has bird *** on top just to add insult to injury. I'm not even opening it to see if the contents are ruined. I can't give this to anyone as a gift in this condition. I've already reported it damaged and arranged for a replacement. If I could use a different shipper I would, but unfortunately the company I ordered from doesn't offer a choice. I HATE USING UPS for this reason. Even on the occasions when they put a package by the front door they don't bother to ring the doorbell!!! Why is that?? How difficult is it to press a button before you walk away?

UPS Next Day Air Saver

I had a package shipped UPS Next Day Air Saver. On their website, in the description of the service UPS offers this as the 1st benefit of the service, "Guaranteed next-day delivery for peace of mind." Here’s what that means:- Package ships on Wednesday, I pay extra for the "benefit" of UPS’ guarantee and "Peace of mind," realizing I wouldn’t receive the delivery Thursday, I really needed it on Friday.- At 4 pm the truck arrives and my wife, my son and I hear the driver say that he couldn’t find it, but said they would do what they could to deliver it by 7 pm. - I call 800-pickups every 30 minutes to see if there was any information. Nothing other than my package was on the truck for delivery, which I already knew was not true.- By 6 pm, my "peace of mind" was gone. I got on the UPS website, found the customer support live chat where, at 6:30, I was told that the rep would contact the local facility and I would receive a call. I gave them my cell phone #.- After 47 minutes, I needed to use the restroom and unfortunately (though properly in my opinion), I’m one of those who doesn’t take his cell phone there.- At 7:17 I get a voicemail from the facility (no name offered, I might add) explaining that my package was "mistakenly" put on the wrong truck "so what will happen is we’ll put it on the right truck and deliver it Monday." Monday is too late. That’s why I paid for "guaranteed" 24 hour delivery even though I knew it would take 48 hours.- At 7:19 I called the # from which I received the voice mail. No answer. I look up the number to find it’s a cell phone not associated with any business.- So it’s back to 800-pickups where I hit 0 instead to get a real person. I asked the rep what could be done and offered to drive to the facility to pick it up the next morning. She put me on hold for 10 minutes and then told me she was sorry but they couldn’t "upgrade" my delivery.- I kind of lost it. I wasn’t asking for an "upgrade" just for some accommodation that was far, far less than the "guarantee" for which I had paid and which UPS royally fumbled. I elevated the issue, but after about an hour on the telephone the best I could get is a request to change delivery. That means I get to check the tracking of the package until Monday morning to see if they can actually accomplish it. Otherwise I wait until Monday afternoon, at which time, it’s too late- One more point: I was told that I have no recourse through UPS because I paid an extra fee to the shipper for the service. - 1st class mail would have had it here today, more than 48 hours faster that UPS’ 24 hour "guarantee."To sum up: I paid for 24 hour delivery knowing that it would take 48 hours because of the importance of receiving delivery by a certain time. UPS is now "guaranteeing me 120 hour delivery. I’m paying dearly for your mistake, UPS, and you can’t even allow me to make accommodations to the point of forgiving your promises and guarantees so my package can actually help me. Thanks. I posted this to the UPS Facebook site. Ups - Pick Up Service Review from Vancouver, British Columbia

Details
I ordered an item and after almost a week after it was supposed to arrive I contacted the shipper which I found out that UPS pretended to attempt to deliver but I didn't even have a notice at my door. I got my tracking number and contacted them, after several emails they agreed to hold it to the following Saturday. I got a call from a customer service person confirming it would be held to the weekend. I got to the store to pick it up on the Friday and surprise surprise it's already been picked up the day before. Complete ***

UPS in Eastbourne, England - Incompetent delivery person

UPS delivery driver in Eastbourne (UK) didn't even bother to knock on the door, just put a slip through the door, pre-printed "Sorry we missed you". The slip was not properly completed, but did include an address where I could pick up the package "Today after 19:00". I went there today at 21:15 but my package was not there. UPS can't be bothered to knock on the door to deliver the package, and then they lose the item so that I can't pick it up. I can't understand how a company that has such low standards can remain in business.

UPS in Wilmington, North Carolina - Decided they didn't want to deliver day after thanksgiving

I waited for my packages the day after thanksgiving. UPS tracking indicated they were out for delivery at 9am When 4pm came and no packages. found out they decided to skip me and get me my packages at there convenience. *** pour customer service . I specifically told my driver that we would be open. But the fill in driver must have decided that he was to busy to stop at my business. We will change our business account to FED Ex based on the terrible service that UPS has provided today.
