UPS in New York, New York - I live in a house with a porch....why send my order to a Pharmacy?

It would be laughable if it wasn't so ridiculous. I ordered an ornament from a website and UPS had no problem leaving it on the porch. Great! I order a lacquer box as part of a Christmas gift and (presumably) the same driver who already left a package on the porch decided it was "safer" to deliver my order to a pharmacy I never heard of. Safer? On the porch there are toys, bikes that aren't locked, and I live in an urban environment. If my neighborhood wasn't safe, don't you think these things would be chained up? Kept indoors? What was this guy so afraid of that by Friday of the same week my neighborhood went from okay to leave a package to better to give it to a pharmacy on the other side of town? Was it the children playing in the street? Was it the workmen who are gutting the house next door and remodeling? Was it my elderly next door neighbor who could sign for the package? I've only been living in that house for 20+ years. Surely there was a better option than a pharmacy. When I attempted to contact UPS customer service I was told that since I work during normal business hours it was basically my fault for never being home. I had to create a UPS account in order to change the delivery from PHARMACY to my home. I had to say that it was not UPS's fault should something happen to my package, etc, etc. I work retail. I don't have time during Christmas rush to set up accounts, deal with bad CS and be told that my working for a living is what's preventing me from receiving a package!! FedEx is SOOOOO much better. If there's an issue - a FedEx rep can call the driver and have the package rerouted - sometimes the same day. I lost two days thanks to UPS. They are DISASTERS. The website that I used to buy the Christmas gifts received a letter asking for FedEx to be their primary carrier. Whether they listen or not as moot. I just wanted the company to know that rather than deliver to their customers, UPS would rather deliver to some unknown, out of the way location. *** service, *** customer service - never using UPS for anything again.

UPS is an extortion cartel.

I order an ergonomic chair to be shipped by UPS(only option available) choose the standard ground fare with an estimated delivery of 10-15 business days so I make arrangement for someone to be available to get the delivery. 5 business days early the UPS guy leaves the delivery notice on my door(1st try). Wow early delivery, no big deal I'll call to get them to deliver on the expected date when I'm home like with any shipping company. No can do sir, that is a 10$ fee to make a change on your order and you are too late to change tomorow's delivery(second try). alright this is ***, I'll just come pick it up at your warehouse on the weekend then. Same thing, 10$ fee to keep my package and having me get it. I contact the shipper of the chair to verify if all the shipment cost we're paid and everything is in order. They even give me their UPS/shipper account number so that UPS can charge them and just deliver the package. Alright I'm all set i figure, UPS will bill the shipper, I'll get my chair and all is well... Once again *** you says UPS. They can only charge that 10$ fee on a credit card. I call back the chair company, they are baffled by the situation and can't do anything more for me(understandable). The next day I call UPS to try and figure this thing out. The second attempt was made today sir, if your not here on the next try(3rd and last try) we'll ship your parcel back to the shipper and send you a bill. So now i have to take a day off to get a delivery(loosing money) or pay them money wich I already did in the shipping cost to get my delivery on the expected date. long story short. UPS will change delivery date and charge you 10$ to fix it. If you miss your 3 delivery notice(made before the agreed upon date) they keep/ship back your belongings and still send you a bill. How is this *** legal.

UPS Ground service does not offered a guaranteed delivery date; only estimated. If you want guaranteed service, you'll have to go with the more expensive one-day, two-day or three-day service.

Whose account is this shipped under? If it was the shipper's, they will be billed for the return, regardless of what they told you.

I deal with UPS all the time.

UPS in Aberdeen, Washington - It is easier to unscrew a delivery for the customer than to see if they have the right house

Ups and fedex are in such a hurry to make deliveries, they are not reliable anymore. You can see that a package is delivered but if it is nowhere to be found, it takes so much time and effort to resolve. Why do they think is easier to unscrew their deliveries than to look at the package and see if it matches the number on the house.... OR if someone will find where they put it... and when you run outside and yell and whistle and they drive off, it makes the driver look bad

THEY CALLED ME TO TELL ME, IF I WANT MY PACKAGE THAT I PAID 2 DAY SHIPPING FOR, TO COME TO THEIR HUB AND PICK IT UP MYSELF. WHAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THIS??? THEY HAVE MANIPULATED THE TRACKING DATA FOR THE PACKAGE, IN ORDER TO SAVE FACE. I CAN GET NO ANSWERS FROM ANYONE WITH THIS COMPANY THAT MAKE AN SENSE. I HAVE CALLED, EMAILED AND CALLED AGAIN. I KEEP GETTING THE RUN AROUND, WHILE THIS COMPANY HAS MY PACKAGE, MY SHIPPINH MONEY, AND A HAD ATTITUDE THE WHOLE WAY AROUND.

It sounds as though they attempted delivery and no one was home to sign for it. In that case, yes, you have to go pick it up at their hub.

They cannot manipulate the tracking data as the shipper is the one who generates it.

The shipper has the receipt of all services. Have you checked with the shipper?

UPS in Cedar Creek, Texas - Terrible Delivery Sevice Recently

Details
I used to love UPS. We live out in the country in a heavily-treed area and have a 100 ft long driveway winding from the main road up to our house. We can't even see the road from our house for the trees and brush. The driver who USED to deliver in our area always brought packages up to our wrap-around covered porch where they were safely out of the weather and would not be stolen. He would even ring our doorbell! We get UPS deliveries a couple of times per month on average. Apparently we now have someone new or else our driver has been required to cut back on the time he spends delivering packages. The last three packages we've gotten (all in the last month) have been left out on the main road! The first was an entire home theater system...in a very large box with pictures on the sides that made it clear EXACTLY what was in the package! It was left sitting next to our driveway right beside the main road...hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise just begging someone unscrupulous to pause for 30 seconds, scoop it up and drive away! Fortunately a friend happened to drive by within an hour or two of the delivery and called us to ask if we were expecting a new home theater system! Two days later a new stereo receiver was delivered, once again in a box with pictures on the side showing exactly what was in the box. This package was delivered beside our next door neighbor's mailbox. Her grand-kids found it and brought it to us. Then, this week, we've been expecting delivery of about $250 worth of medications. After the last two delivery debacles we've been tracking the package. First UPS managed to mis-direct it so that "delivery was delayed" by almost a week. Then, late last night when tracking suddenly indicated that the package had been delivered the day before - tracking updates apparently aren't made instantly either! - we could not locate it. After tramping around in the dark and checking with nearby neighbors and trying futilely to get assistance from UPS Customer Service, we finally located the shoebox-sized box this morning....hidden in the waist high weeds and brush BEHIND our stone mailbox! The outer box was soaking wet and falling apart. Fortunately the meds were in sealed glass and plastic bottles so no real damage. BUT I am completely fed up with UPS delivery services. We order things online all the time and often don't have any option regarding what delivery service the stores choose to use. But when we do, I'm choosing something other than UPS from now on! To retailers... if you want customers to order online, you HAVE to use a delivery service that can be trusted to get the packages safely to your customers. Maybe this is just one bad driver and not UPS in general. But if that is the case, UPS's customer service should have an EASY way for customers to complain about poorly delivered packages so that UPS could get rid of bad drivers or at least retrain them. The QUALITY of the delivery matters too...not just how many packages a driver manages to drop off somewhere NEAR the customer's home.

On the friggin "telephone tree" that customers must go thru, provide an option for customers to complain about POORLY delivered packages where (luckily) no financial harm was incurred. Then get rid of or retrain drivers who do a *** poor job.
